OBITUARIES - 8/31/17

Daniel L. McMahon
Daniel L. "Danny" McMahon, 70, of Las Vegas, passed away on August 12.
A longtime member of SSUSA since the early 2000’s, McMahon most recently played during the 2016 season in both the Spring World and LVSSA/SSUSA Southwest Championships with Las Vegas Stars. During his SSUSA career, McMahon also played with Full Circle 65, Tharaldson’s, D & K Softball, Next Level, Ryan’s Way, GSF and Omen, among others.
Along with playing the game of softball, McMahon also worked it as an umpire and was inducted into the National Softball Association Hall of Fame in the Umpire category in 2005.
McMahon served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired from Kerr McGee Chemical after 35 years and was employed with the Clark County School District, working at Boulder City High School for the last 15 years.

The LVSSA family has lost another great person and ballplayer. "DMac" absolutely loved and embraced softball as he became a very good hitter and fielder who played on many championship teams. He will always be remembered for his positive attitude and willingness to help other players with hitting tips. Danny was a Vietnam War veteran and a Hall of Fame umpire who was the "go to" person when someone needed a ruling.
Danny is survived by his wife of 39 years, a son, a daughter and two grandchildren. He will be missed.
Ronald C. Pellegrini, Sr.
Ronald Charles Pellegrini Sr., 70, of Aurora, TX, died on August 24.
A native of Massachusetts, Pellegrini served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from the United States Government as Special Agent in Charge. Pellegrini was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an avid senior softball player, as well as an avid fan of Red Sox and Patriots.
An SSUSA member dating back to the late 1990's with the Hawaii Masters 50, Pellegrini was a longtime player on Texas Legends 65. He most recently playing with the team during the 2016 season in the Oil City Classic, Heart of Texas, Texas State Championships, Midwest Champioships and Rocky Mountain Championships. He also played with Relentless 65's, Dallas Spurs 60, Baystate Bombers, and Bostonian Shoes among others.
"Ron will be missed, he was a great team mate and good friend," said Jim Gibbons, who played with Pellegrini on the Texas Legends and Dallas Spurs teams.
Pellegrini is survived by his wife of 51 years, two sons and seven grandchildren.
