Record 8 Teams Win Top Prize: Triple Grand Slam

Nov. 1, 2003 – Senior Softball-USA

Eight teams reached the pinnacle of Senior Softball in 2003 by winning the coveted Triple Grand Slam.

Only four teams in the past two years have achieved the honor. Two teams from California, two from Washington, two from Michigan and one each from Pennsylvania and New York became Triple Grand Slam winners.

The names of Triple Grand Slam winners are engraved on the Perpetual Triple Grand Slam Trophy in Sacramento, and each player receives a pair of top-of-the-line Tanel 360 softball shoes.

Teams must win three of the following four events:

The Eastern or Western National Championships

The US National Championships

The World Championships

The Winter National Championships.

Only one team won all four events: the powerhouse 70 Major Mitchell's Construction team from Red Lion, Pa.

Other Triple Grand Slam winners include:

40 Women's Division: Showtime of San Palo, California

50 Men's Major Division: WE Ruth Realty of Renton, Washington

60 Men's AA Division: Dream Team from Grand Rapids, Michigan

65 Men's Major-Plus Division: Fairway Ford of Placentia, California

65 Men's Major Division: Emerald City Masters of Newcastle, Washington

65 Men's AA Division: West Michigan Sportsmen of Holt, Michigan

70 Men's AA Division: Syracuse Cyclones of New York

Previous winners included the San Francisco Seals and Jimmy's Dukes, both of California, in 2001 and California Express Majors and Coca Cola Classics in 2002.
