16th Annual Spring Training Classic Hosts 58 Teams

PHOENIX - The 16th Annual Spring Training Classic welcomed 58 teams here at Rose Mofford Sports Complex and Victory Lane Sports Complex, Feb. 28 - March 1.
The tournament began Feb. 28 at Rose Mofford with the three-team Men’s 70/75 Division.
The division started with a three-game round robin on Friday and concluded with a two-game round robin final on Saturday.
In the end, Ginco Plumbing 75 won the division going 2-0 on Saturday.
In the four-team Men’s 65 Major Plus/Major Division, Arizona Scorpions come out on top going 2-0 in the single elimination bracket on Sunday, including a 24-20 win over Rocco’s in the Championship game.
In another four-team division, the Men’s 65 AAA/60 AA Division, Bucky’s Casino 65 posted a 2-0 record in Sunday’s single elimination bracket, including a 14-12 win over Full Throttle 60.
In the five-team Men’s 55 AAA/AA/60 AAA/AA Division, Los Vatos Viejos 60 II AAA took the crown following a perfect 2-0 mark in the single elimination bracket, which included a thrilling 13-12 win over Santisi Brothers 60 AAA in the championship game.
In another five-team division, the Men’s 55 AAA Division, Oldies But Goodies went 3-0 in the single elimination bracket, including a 16-11 win over Hustle in the championship game.
In the five-team Men’s 55/60 Major Division, Arizona Old School 55 survived the single elimination bracket, going 2-0, capped off by a 17-15 win over AZ Legends 60.
For Arizona Old School, this is the team’s second championship of the month, as the team also won the Gold Glove Spectacular.
In the six-team Men’s 50 Major Division, AZ Heat went 2-0 in the single elimination bracket, including a 29-28 thriller over top seed, Thunderstruck, in the championship game.
In the six-team Men’s 50 AAA/55 Major Division, Arizona Scorpions 55 escaped the single elimination bracket, going 3-0, including a 24-22 win over top seed Lokahi AZ 50.
In the six-team Men’s 40 AAA Division, all teams played one seeding game, to go into a three-game guarantee bracket.
After dropping their seeding game, Underdawgz rattled off four straight wins, including a 21-13 win over Joker’s Wild in the championship game.
Vintage Softball finished in third place.
The eight-team Men’s 40 Major Division, the largest of the tournament, was also set-up with a single game round robin to seed into a three-game guarantee bracket.
After dropping their opening bracket game against Icon, 35-29, K&B Beverage/AG Painting/D Bat ran the gauntlet, winning a grueling seven straight games, including all five games on Sunday.
The run capped off by a double-dip of Whitton Co./Standard Plumbing Supply/AZ Bandits, winning the championship and “if” games by nail-biting scores of 27-26 and 22-21, respectively.
Icon rounded out the top three finishers, while Roster Check finished in fourth place.
In the six-team Women’s 40 Division, Saints completed the perfect weekend, winning their lone seeding game, as well as all four games in the bracket, including a 27-18 win over Notorious in the championship game.
Dames Got Game finished in third place after winning three straight elimination games, while F.B.I. (Fueled By Insanity) finished fourth.
