For 40+ Players, Masters Tourneys Offer a New World
March 1, 2004 – Senior Softball-USA
Masters 40 + softball is starting to get a bigger and bigger draw; all the old heroes of the 80's and 90's are starting to play against their own ages ˆ and the competition is getting better and better each year,There are several associations that have 40+ softball programs; Senior Softball-USA, ISA, ASA, USSSA, NSA, and several others. There are tournaments all over the country for this age bracket . That's the good news.
Most of us don't want to admit our age and play in Seniors Softball. There is kind of a stigma attached to it that says, ŒYou're Old!!!'.
So, we have changed the division to the Masters Division.
There are qualifying tournaments for the World Championships in Reno this year, from June 4-6. The next 40+ tourney is on June 19-20 at Lake Tahoe, followed by California State Cup in Fresno Aug 13-14. The ASA Nationals are in Valdosta , Ga., on Aug 27-29 ,
All 40+ teams are invited to each and every event.
In September, Senior Softball has its World Championships in Las Vegas and the Masters Division plays Sept. 23-26. USSSA Worlds are in Hutchinson, Kansas, Oct. 1-3.
So as you can see, there are plenty of old man tourneys for us that still keep the blood flowing , and we welcome all the teams that want to challenge us for the crowns .
God Bless and keep swingin'.
