March 1, 2004 – Letters from readers
Looking for HitsSeveral years ago some outfit advertised a video softball hitting system. I have looked in all my newspapers, but cannot find information. Does anyone know what I am talking about? If so, please send me the name and address.

Add Middle Infielder
Congratulations on a great World Championship in Mobile, Alabama. Manicured fields, scheduling, and umpires were well coordinated. Here are some comments and observations to continue the annual improvement of Senior Softball-USA.
Requiring an eleventh defender to protect the infield middle would curb the opening that batters took advantage of continuously. One objective of senior softball is to encourage more participation. This would bring in another two players on each team and make it a better game. A second observation, as a winner on a previous World Championship team, I did not need or want another World Championship ring. Fairness suggests that the money saved should be used to allow an alternate wrist watch award with appropriate on-back engraving.

The New Recruit
Here's a joke for you:
Senior Softball manager to new recruit: "So, you would like to try out for our senior softball team? Well, before you take the field, tell me a little bit about yourself so I can decide where to play you."
Recruit: "What can I tell you? Since I am a little up in age, my reflexes have slowed a bit. My arm is not what it used to be and my knees have been bothering me so I can't run that well."
Manager: "What you're telling me is not all that bad considering your age. At least you're able to make it to first and you have two good eyes."
Recruit: "I forgot to mention, my eyes aren't that great either."
