234 Teams Compete in Hemet, Syracuse, Nashville, & Salem

The desire to play softball boiled over this summer, with record numbers of teams competing throughout the country.
In two of the four Senior Softball USA’s premium tournaments played in the later part of July set records and the other two dodged raindrops to get the games in.
The SoCal Championships in Hemet, Calif., attracted 81 teams – and had to turn away an entire division. In the Northwest Championships in Salem, Ore., a record 71 teams played.
Meanwhile rain forced schedule changes in both the Southern Championships in Nashville, Tenn., and at the Northeast Championships in Syracuse, N.Y.
