Calendar of Events for 2008 SSWC in Phoenix

2008 World Championships calendar:

Thursday, Oct. 16:

5-7 pm at the Crowne Plaza

Manager Registration

Managers for the Men’s 60 Division, Men’s Masters 40 Division and all Women’s Divisions register and receive their programs and schedules anytime between 5-7 pm at the Headquarters Hotel Crowne Plaza.

5:30-6:30 pm at the Crowne Plaza

Open CPR / AED / First Aid Training

Safety-training course at the Headquarters Hotel Crowne Plaza is open to umpires, managers and players. National Safety Director Jim Sherman teaches the safety course. The course is free. If participants want a certification (CPR/AED Card), the cost is $30. This course directly led to saving three lives in the last two seasons and is highly recommended. Call 916-326-5303 to sign up.

7 pm at the Crowne Plaza

Managers Meeting

Managers for the Men’s 60 Division, Men’s 40 Masters Division and all Women’s Divisions meet at the Crowne Plaza. Managers will meet the directors of fields, review changes in schedules, hear details of awards, special events of the tournament and will be eligible to win prizes during drawings.

Friday, Oct. 17:

8 am at all fields the Games Begin

Seeding games begin at all fields. Players register before the first game. Some bracket games may be played in some divisions. National Games are scheduled to be played for the 60AA at Papago Park, 60AAA at Desert West, 60 Major at Cesar Chavez Complex, and the Women’s 50 Division at Rose Mofford Fields.

Noon-1 pm at Rose Mofford Fields

Opening Ceremonies

There will be a Parade of Players, Hall of Fame greats will be there and Former Arizona Gov. Rose Mofford is expected to throw out the ceremonial first pitch during the event.

Saturday, Oct. 18

8 am at all fields the Games Begin

Elimination games played at all fields throughout the day.

Sunday, Oct. 19:

8 am at all fields - Awards Presented

Today is the culmination of play for the 60 Men’s Division, the Men’s 40 Master Division and all Women’s Division. Awards will be presented in ceremonies on the field after each of the Championship Games.
