LEE’S SUMMIT, MO – Randy Rowe began playing senior softball in 2000, the year he turned 50. It wasn’t long after that that he got involved in the organizational end of the game with the Kansas City Senior Softball League, where he plays.
About two and one-half years ago, Wes Weddle, after 17 years as Kansas City Senior Softball League president, approached Rowe to see if he would have any interest in becoming the new league president. Rowe agreed to give it a go and today he remains in that position, successfully directing the 54-team league.
Rowe also serves as the tournament director for the Kansas City SSWC qualifier. For his work with this tournament, Rowe was recognized this year as SSUSA’s tournament director of the year.
Now, on top of all this, Rowe has agreed to handle the clubs & leagues director’s position for the Kansas City area.
Rowe has always had a passion for sports and his interest in athletics was encouraged by his dad at the early age of five. By the time Rowe graduated from Lee’s Summit High School, he had participated in football, track and men’s gymnastics. He continued to play football in college at Pittsburg State, Kan.
Rowe played 3 & 2 baseball as a kid. This was a game his Dad helped start in Kansas City during the summer time. Rowe began playing softball in 1973 and has continued to play the game ever since.
Rowe’s love of the game will serve him well as the SSUSA Clubs & Leagues Kansas City Metropolitan Director. If you live in Kansas City, or the surrounding communities, and wish to know more about the clubs & leagues program in that area please contact Rowe at 816-623-3355 or 816-718-3221.
