Softball News Report

GREAT LAKES – The SSUSA’s Great Lakes region is still void of clubs and leagues directors but that may not be the status for too long. Three candidates have been identified and approached and there is a distinct possibility that one or two of them, if not all three, will accept a position as a SSUSA Clubs & Leagues director.

In the southern Illinois and metropolitan St Louis area Rudy Pribble has been invited to take on the position for that locale. He has been very successful as a SSWC tournament director in Champaign, Ill., and does a great job in enticing teams to take part in his tournament. The SSUSA feels Pribble would be just as successful in getting clubs and leagues to form partnerships with the association.

In Michigan, Mike Dembicki, a long-time SSWC tournament director, has recommended Dave Mossoian for the SSUSA Clubs & Leagues Michigan director’s position. Dembicki lists Mossoian’s current role as a senior softball player plus his past duties as a state umpire-in-chief and tournament director as definite attributes in his favor. Mossoian’s existing senior contacts, gained through his experiences as a player, and his organizational abilities would make him a leading candidate for the open Michigan state director’s spot.

Another nomination came from Ohio. Dave Parravani, president of the Akron Silver League, spoke up for the manager of his tournament team, Terry McClaskey. McClaskey manages the Ohio Silverados and has been involved with senior softball, both as a player and manager for several years. Parravani says McClaskey’s passion for the senior game and his ability to pull things together make him an ideal candidate for the SSUSA Clubs & Leagues Ohio director’s position.

It’s just a matter of time before the Great Lakes region directors’ positions start to get filled. That time may be sooner than later with quality candidates like Pribble, Mossoian and McClaskey.

The states involved in the Great Lakes region include Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois and Eastern Wisconsin. If you or somebody you know is interested in any of the positions, please get in touch with me. Here is my contact information:
