Olympia League Moves to Top Facility
Sept. 1, 2009 – Shane Verley Olympia, WA Metro Director
The Olympia Senior Softball League has welcomed and embraced change over the years. The league has moved twice and changed affiliation twice in the last five years. We’ve also doubled the number of teams participating. In 2006 we moved and switched to NSA. In 2008 we switched to SSUSA. In May of 2009 we moved to our new home, The Regional Athletic Complex (RAC) in Lacey, WA. The RAC is a state-of-the-art facility with 4 hybrid softball fields, artificial turf infields and natural grass outfields. We are truly fortunate. Lacey Parks and Recreation’s Sue Falash manages the park and has been very good to us. I doubt we’ll move or change affiliation again, we’ll just grow, add new teams and divisions and refine our format, scheduling and league specific rules.
We ran two five-team divisions this summer, from mid-May to the end of July, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We began our first Senior Fall League Thursday August 27th running 8 weeks, 8 teams also at the RAC, using all four fields.
