Idaho Wood Bat League Results
Sept. 1, 2009
The Idaho Senior Softball Association’s Wooden Bat League, in Meridian, is winding down its fourth season. The league was formed as a draft league, using wooden bats for a couple of reasons.First, it was for league parity, since the Senior League in Boise was becoming more one-sided every year. Second, it was to keep the older players active.
The wooden bats have brought back approximately 30 players who felt that they did not want to play with composite bats. The Association plays two separate leagues. The Monday league is named after MLB’s National League teams, and the Wednesday league is named after MLB’s American League teams.
The teams play a 12 game spring and a 12 game summer season. The winners of each season play for the championship at the end of the year bar-b-que. The spring winners were the Cardinals and the White Sox. The summer season is still in session.
