BILL REGYNSKI NAMED CLUBS & LEAGUES SOUTH DAKOTA STATE DIRECTOR

Feb. 1, 2010 – Steve Simmons New England & North Regional Director, Clubs & Leagues

PIERRE, S.D. – The SSUSA’s Clubs & Leagues program intends to establish representation in all areas of the country, even those locations that don’t have a large senior softball community. One such area is South Dakota and SSUSA has found an eminently qualified individual to handle the task.

He is Bill Regynski who is active in senior softball, playing for the MN Prize 65’s, and who is well connected with senior softball activity in South Dakota. His attributes are chronicled in an article written by Laura Haatvedt of the Capital Journal, Pierre, SD.

“Pierre is home to an esteemed member of the South Dakota Senior Games Hall of Fame. Bill Regynski was inducted into the Senior Games Hall of Fame during the annual Senior Games awards banquet held in 2007.

Regynski, now 68, has been involved with the senior games for 14 years, that’s greater than half the time the senior games have been in existence in the state. Regynski became involved at the suggestion of a friend, Ginny Anderson, the first person to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Anderson and Regynski continue to help coordinate the location of each year’s competition.

‘I had been involved with league softball for years,’ Regynski said. ‘I always enjoyed sports, I thought I would give this a try.’

Since that time, Regynski has been instrumental in getting teams and umpires together for the senior games. He has managed, organized, coached and played on many teams throughout the years.

‘It’s nice to know I can still compete with other people across the state,’ Regynski said.

When Regynski first became involved with the senior games there were only a handful of softball teams competing for the title each year. Last year there were 17 men’s teams and three women’s teams participating.

‘It’s great to be involved. I know that I’ve accomplished something,’ Regynski said. ‘I’m helping out with something people like to do.’

Regynski’s involvement in the South Dakota Senior Games softball competition make him an ideal candidate for the SSUSA Clubs & Leagues state director’s position. If you want to know more about the SSUSA South Dakota Clubs & Leagues program, here is Regynski’s contact information:
