PLANS FOR SOFTBALL TOURS IN FAR EAST, CUBA, SPAIN

SEATTLE – Plans for International Senior Softball-USA international competitions were unveiled here last week, including trips to Japan and Taiwan in November 2010, to Cuba in February 2011, and to Spain in June 2011.

“We are excited to announce three exciting international softball adventures,” said Susan Ruth, director of International Sports Holidays.

“These are unique opportunities for senior players and their families to not only play ball, but also to shop, sightsee and – most important – establish new friendships with teammates and players from other countries,” said Ruth.

The tours are open to all registered SSUSA players and their families. Senior Softball-USA has been promoting softball internationally through tours for 23 years.

The Far East Tour, from Nov. 11-22 includes two tournaments. The first will be played in Taiwan on Nov. 13-14 and the second in Fujinomya in Japan. The tournaments mark the 11th year Senior Softball-USA has brought teams to the Japan and the second year to Taiwan in a joint effort by the three countries to promote senior softball.

Deadline for signing up for the Far East Tour is Aug. 31.

The Cuban-American Senior Softball Classic will be Feb. 15-22, 2011 and includes a series of games against four 50+ senior Cuban teams in the Havana region capped by playoffs. The Classic provides a unique opportunity to sample one of the most unique cultures in the world – and one that has changed little in 50 years.

Deadline for signing up for the Cuban-0American Classic is Aug. 15, 2010.

The Old World Senior Softball Championships will be in June, 2011 and include tournaments in both Madrid and Barcelona. Teams from Spain, Germany, Holland and Italy have expressed interest in playing in the tournament. The tour will include a generous helping of rich Spanish culture with plenty of shopping and sightseeing to season the experience.

Deadline for signing up for the Old World Championships is March 1, 2011 (Exact dates for the trip will be available soon).
