NEW BOOK ON SENIOR SOFTBALL: "A BOYS' GAME"

Sept. 1, 2010 – Senior Softball-USA

There’s no question that Hank Branson loves the game of baseball. Whether it’s shagging flies in the outfield, sprinting from first to third or just yakking it up in the dugout with your best buddies, baseball has a lot to offer when you’re a young man.

But then you grow up and a lot of other stuff happens to you. College, working, marriage, families and that baseball mitt gets shoved farther and farther into the back of the closet.

After all, it’s just a game for the young…or is it?

Charlie Byrum, whose new book “A Boys’ Game” is one of a growing number of men who see opportunities for seniors in the game of softball even as their speed on the base paths may slow with age.

His book which is expected to be offered from Authorhouse.com in September is a timely read for those who haven’t dusted off their old baseball gear in years and offers a of insights into life for Hank Branson and thousands of other senior players along the way.

The book takes readers along with Hank from his first tryouts and getting his wife’s permission to play to playing in his first tournament and world championship.

It’s a light read over a couple of hundred pages that can entertain readers once the cold days of winter arrive and the summer and fall leagues come to a close.
