May 1, 2001 – Senior Softball-USA
LONDON ˆ Spurred by their experience on the European All Star Team during the 1999 Senior Softball World Championships in Phoenix, the co-manager is forming the England National Senior Softball Team to compete in Las Vegas."Four members of the England Team and the team coach got together with seven players from Germany to form the European All Stars and play in the World Championships," said Geoff Bladon, manager of the England National Team.
"On returning to Europe, the English members decided to form their own team made up from completely experienced English players and, as a result, the England National Senior Softball Team was born," he said.
The England National Team is planning on competing in the 2001 Senior Softball World Championships in Las Vegas in September.
Senior Softball-USA introduced English seniors to the sport in 1990 during an International Tour, which included goodwill exhibition games. Over the years, SSUSA has exchanged information with the British Baseball/Softball Federation, which led to the European All Star team competing in the 1999 SSWC in Phoenix.
