Hawaii Player is 'Ageless Hero' / Pat 'Blazer' Brown, 70, Wins Island Award

HONOLULU, Hawaii - Pat "Blazer" Brown, 70, who plays first base for the Hawaii Seniors, has been awarded the "Ageless Heroes" Award here for extraordinary achievements.

The Hawaii Medical Service Association cited Brown for his "vigor and vitality."

In addition to playing senior softball in two leagues and officiating boxing matches, Brown has picked up a number of Senior Olympic Gold Medals in Track & Field.

Brown won both the 100 meter dash and the long jump competitions in 2000. He adds those to the Gold Medals he won in 1999 for the 100 meter, the high hurdles, the long jump and the high jump.
