DOVER, Del. – The first State Spring Classic kicked off April 17-21 with 28 teams from six states competing for supremacy. The tournament utilized two of Dover’s premier complexes, Big Oak Park and Schutte Park.
The durability of the fields was tested mid-tournament with three inches of rainfall on Friday night.
“Everyone involved was scrambling to get play under way as quickly as possible, and after some schedule revisions and field maintenance, we were able to do so,” said Tournament Director Tim McElroy.
“We wish to extend a huge thank you to the teams for their patience on Saturday morning,” said McElroy.
Although the weather played a factor in the tournament, the amount of competition did not disappoint.
