Discussion: TOC Major Plus

If that is true about the Mavericks, then 2 of the top 50 major plus teams, Damons being the other one, in this country over the past 10 years or so, have decided to call it quits. That's a shame!

Hey Jack,

Just checking if you were at the TOC, and if you got any pics, and when we might expect to see them.

Discussion: Hybrid Turf Fields

Hey Joe,

Here in the Baltimore area, all of the High schools are going to the new synthetic turf fields. Running on them is great for old geezers like us, and I have even taken ground balls off of them and the hops are true just as you said. The resons that they are going this way is the high costs of maintaining natural turf fields. It would seem to me more economical to put the synthetic on both infield and outfield.

Thanks trumpball,

I have a Legacy, along with the black Ultra II, but the Legacy seems stiff and hard to break in. I had been thinking about buying the red end-loaded, but have a end loaded Macenko. Maybe I'll give this new one a shot.

Hey Harry,

You guys did well at the TOC. I thought it was a nice gesture for you guys and SSUSA, to allow the 2 guys on our team to play with you since they were the only guys on our team that could make it. It made their trip worthwhile. Good Luck in the coming year.

P.S. We have some snow coming in today, and some more possibly by the end of the week, I don't know if you'll get out of any shoveling this time.
See you soon,
Greg

I didn't get the chance to go to the TOC this year because of the weather, but a friend told me that the Miken people were doing very well with the sales of these new bats. Has anyone used one, and if so what did you think?

Discussion: BRING YOUR LONGJOHNS TO THE TOC

Hey Web,
We all have our own viewpoints on all matters, including softball, that we can agree or disagree on. That's what makes this such a great country. But I agree with you let's try to stick to softball, and making the one thing that we all love to do, playing softall, enjoyable to play! Here's to you and all of our Senior Softball friends, have a great season!

Webbie, who said anything about being man-caused? Who mentioned politics? And you are right, it happened during the time of the American Revolution, in a period called the mini- ice age. What I wrote was not a political statement nor an agenda, just a fact. Nor was it an attempt to mock you for your statement. And there is tons of evidence to show what controls our climates. And none of it has to do with politics! You better stick to softball!

Discussion: BRING YOUR LONGJOHNS TO THE TOC

Global warming is when the heat of the sun gets warm enough to melt the polar ice caps. Which in turn float glacial ice into the warm currents, such as the gulf stream here on the East coast, lowering the temperature of the currents. These currents are what dictates the climate in your area. If that current temp drops only 3 - 5 degrees it can result in dramatic climate changes. So the temperature actually goes down not up.

And Joe,

Late July in Myrtle Beach,S.C., would be a great place to have a tournament. You have Golf, the beach, softball and plenty of nightlife and fine restaurants to occupy yourself over the course of several days.

No doubt we'll make it! And you are right, it gives us a chance to go somewhere warm in the winter. This time of the year just getting outside to play some ball will be great. And #45, they're not going to change it!

Even though I agree with #45, I have been given a very definitive explanation by DD as to why the TOC will remain in it's current time for now and into the future. It will not change! We really do not get that many large snowfalls here in the Baltimore area. The type of year that we are having this winter comes around maybe every five to ten years or so. I would never move because I'm 2 hours from the ocean, 2 hours to the mountains, and live close to 2 big cities that I can go see MLB, NHL, NBA and NFL games, as well as many major colleges. The only thing that I would like to see is for this area ( Baltimore ) to put up a softball complex like the one in Salem, Virginia, Botentout complex. I've been to many places to play ball on both sides of this country, and there are some nice places in Arizona, Florida and many other areas, but that complex is my favorite! Hey Harry, maybe what is bothering that shoulder is throwing those newspapers up on peoples porches, maybe your wife could do that for you too! LOL

Hey Harry,

It seems like we are in for another storm or two before we even leave for the TOC. We practiced last night and when we came outside of the practice facility, there was 6" on the ground. They are calling for a minimum of 14" on the snowfall expected Firday. Time to get a snowblower, I'm tired of all this shoveling! See you in Florida.

As long as it doesn't snow between now and then you'll be good to go. I can't wait.

Putting our points of view out there for all to see, and then having the pros and cons of those issues discussed, is called the democratic process. And I believe we are being heard right here on this forum by SSUSA. And whether you agree or disagree with any of the posts to me is secondary. The most important part of this process is the fact that you, as a senior softball player, cared enough to come on this or any other website to see what is being said or done about the game we all play and love.

Salio,

Is that rule for ASA? Because I had to take mine off last year in Burlington.

4Four4,

It is legal in SSUSA and SPA, except for the tape like #6 said. But not legal in ASA or ISSA.
