I went last year and the only that was good and consistent were the fields and complex. Herb was in the hospital and it was very poorly run. Rules changes every game and sometimes every inning. Strike zone changed game to game along with homerun rules. We asked to use the safety zone for pitchers because the rubbers were placed two close and finally the teams went out and we removed the rubber and made a line where it should have been. This was ok till somebody went and tatteled and they came and stopped the game and put a chalk line where it was previously, good thing nobody was injuried because they were violating a field setting and a safety zone for the pitchers.
Just my opinion!!!!!!!!!

Stick,

Yes I'd play with the combo and the USSSA ball is 40/325 and you can tell when someone hits it with a cheater stick.

Perly,
The NSA ball was 44/400 and the bats for NSA/USSSA are all the same. I don't know of any that differ or are banned in one assoc and not the other.

My preference also is the current bat/ball combo but if the majority voted to hit wood bats I'd still play.

I despise the 52/275 as you might as well hit a rubber bouncy ball or an old pair of socks.

Perly,
Did you guys win Sunday?
I think we could have hung around a little longer provided we would have had at least 10 players. it really took a toll in the second game against Dixie as the outfielders had no legs left.

Mad dog,

The spirits of ammonia I believe are marked for inhalous ammonia which means the fumes are safe to inhale when diluted.
The other ammonia is cheaper but is a cleaner and doesn't dilute well and is dangerous and can be deadly to inhale.
It's hot in the South and we don't want no Dead Dogs swelling up!!!!!!!

Garocket,

That's just the way we do it and we add the Gatoraid and other drinks to keep hydrated.
But say you flew in or had a large group traveling together it's often difficult to have room for coolers and cases of water etc. and if you are on the field for 5 straight hours it's hard to keep the coolers filled with ice.
The norm has been an ice water cooler in every dugout.
Just my comments and thoughts about how a new tourney went and was run.

We played on the same fields for 5 hours on Sunday and water is needed. Our team brings our own but when you are there for 5 hours you run low.
If you play in 100 degress out west try playing in the South when 95 degrees with the high humidity equals 110 to 115 degree heat indexes.
Clearly this tourney wasn't prepared.
They did go and purchase 3 coolers for 3 fields but when it was down to one field they didn't have water in each dougout as most tourneys do.
They used one UMP for each game including the elimination games.
One female UMP was wrong on every close call for both teams and didn't know how to call balls and strikes at all along with not knowing what an illegal pitch was or how to call it. I was told she also had a very short fuse and liked to eject players.
At least the TD stepped up and replaced her for the championship game.
But what has happened to having two UMPS in the elimanation games.
The UMP also ran the scoreboard and kept up with all the subs and pinch runners as he should.
The last tourney we went to had two UMPS for all games and a scorekeeper and scoreboard operator.
It's all about the $$$$$$$$$$.

Check out the Miken FREAK FX-700 both balanced and endload, along with Worth 454 ASA verions balanaced and endload.
They have lime green handles to make them readily seen as ASA versions.
They do take a lot of breaking in.
Easton Salvo isn't bad either but also requires a lot of break in time.

Discussion: NSA Senior Worlds Bats Permitted

I thought I read on here that the Western NSA Worlds were already completed and permitted the use of Senior Bats. Also that some NSA leagues were permitting the use of Senior Bats.
I just received info from the Alabama State Senior Director that the Eastern Worlds in Gadsden and Boaz in two weeks would NOT be permitted to use Senior Bats.
Did I misinterept something or was I just wrong.
He said he checked with the National Office and NO SENIOR BATS would be allowed in the Eastern Worlds or any other NSA events.

Perly,

I feel just like you do with the teams that are just like family.
All the friendships and meeting new people continually along with all the old friends make it great.
I still remember the first time I met you, Wendall and Billy in the Dallas Airport in 2002 when I played my 1st year with Huffman. I still cherish the cold ones along with the friends that I have from that meeting!!!!!!

In the Aiken SC tourney there were 11 teams and we played 2 games back to back on Fiday and Saturday (didn't start till noon) for a total of less than 6 hours playing in two days then on Sunday if you were in the losers bracket you would have to play 4 games in 6 hours.
It's all about keeping teams in town. There were 5 fields available so figure that out!!!!!!!

Discussion: The knee.....still and again

Mel,

After the shots I ice a minimum of 20 minutes a day every day, usually in the evening till the 3 full weeks are done.
Then I usually will ice after playing more than one game or if I notice any discomfort but mainly as a precautionary measure.
Good Luck

Mel,

As I and others have said do the ICE thing.
They work quicker on some and take longer on others.
My Dr said on the first set that it could be 6-8 weeks for full effect. I was good after 6 days after just the 1st shot. On repeat series I've had similar results but haven't had the swelling that I had with the 1st set.
Ask you Doc for his feelings on playing but I think you'll be able to tell yourself because the pain goes away if and when they work. You may also want to ask him about the unloader brace because it lightens the load and I believe it helps prevent additional injuries and some of the wear besides adding some stability.

Discussion: another one bites the dust

Unless NSA has had a change of heart or rules Senior bats are not permitted. If they were used for the western Nationals then we in the East/South would also like to use them but not the 52/275 sock. Those may be ok where it not hot but in the south with the high humidity and temperatures they are garabage.
We had a NSA problem a couple of years ago when Combats were used at one complex for NSA nationals but not at the others.
If someone from NSA knows what the current rule is please post.
The current NSA ball is the 44/400 in the southern area.

I've had three sets of the ortho-visc shots and they work great for me. Cortisone does nothing. After the ortho-visc I ice every day for twenty minutes and also after playing games. Mine have lasted 22 months, 24 months and 16 months, and I'm 10 months on the current set. They don't work for everybody but they sure took my pain away. I also use a Donjoy unloader brace and won't go to a game without it. Just putting off the replacement as long as I can.

Discussion: SSUSA TOURNAMENT AIKEN SC SUMMARY

Add to this we played 4 games total on Friday and Saturday. Two Friday back to back and two Saturday back to back and then were scheduled to play 4 games in 6 hours on Sunday.
It was Father's day also and the fields were empty early Friday and Saturday so why couldn't we have played more then.
An 11 team tourney where all 11 came back Sunday. May have had to this year but this is not how to build attendance at tournaments

Discussion: No illegal runner penalty?

Whether he actually decieved anybody doesn't make any difference, he attempted to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The correct call would be for the first runner that crossed the plate during the play should have been called out.
The runner closet to the plate when the play started is out because of the illegal runner on first. In fact if he was discovered before a ball was hit and after a pitch was thrown the closest runner to home is still out.

Murray,
Hope you sent it back for a return as Reebok has warrantied/replaced all of the early failures because they discoved a manufacturing anomaly on the ones that broke.
Let me correct that except for the ones that were shaved/cut.
