Discussion: Groups of Teams for Better Seeding

Helps make my point.
If the excuse to do it this way is they were for best best matched games, I'd say best for whom? All same ages bracket & presume and they same playing level, so why not mix it upand play different teams.

When you start moving teams with different ages and ratings into different brackets to play you change the make up of the gamesand the outcomes.
you can read post all over the place about concerns for havinh yo play up or down and maybe a t different level bucause thids or that happened or a tram pulled out.

Asking a team yo play up or down with or without a different rating is one thing but it seems to be many are just placed there to see what happens.

Not sure about your group method, could get very complicated**. But one thing I do not like is having to play the same teams you play in league or other events in your area,  through the year. I think it would be better if you played a team out of your region, someone different. Basically, some, but not many, are still used as sandbagger games.

** they keep trying to 'fix' something that wasn't broke.
You want examples, ok PPR, (more than 2 times) & Flip flop.

So where do you put on these events you say you do?

Do a search here for knobs breaking on here and other sites, see if whatever make is mentioned is same as yours. And as mentioned above me, there have been a rash of them the last couple of years and different brands.

curveball,
Correct on OF, haven't dont that for 35 years but for one in Cal cup in Sac or maybe it was Western Natl's about 8\9 years ago played RF. I do\did P, 1st & 3rd.
When the post was originally made it was about softball....
Then revised, maybe to appease the comments. Only think the 400's fence would be suitable for the major and m+ teams If they got it, then do it. But don't envy them for it.
But since temp fences were mantioned, I think that would be good for all even if field actually made (layed out) for the baseball teams as they were mentioned in passing.

Dbax, I understand that more that you know. At 65 you can have 11 man fielding so that should ease it up some what, but while I agree on the extra turf needed to cover, it's the same for all teams playing there. Make sure your players are in good shape. lol, though not a laughing matter when it comes down to it.
Maybe play in a Lidi, Gault and maybe it was the Stockton or or the Turlock park off I-5 At least one of those parks has 265' or so fields. Which are still used and overkill for the new senior bats.
But I wouldn't if I were traveling that far as you would need to do let alone 1\4 that for me.
The Major and M+ teams shouldn't have a problem with it nor should the younger generation 40's up.

Bullhead City, welcome the the 21st century of softball equipment use.
If one takes the time to search the post over many year back, I think you'll find dozens of them about shots well over the 300 foot fences and some stating way more.
Given the vats now in use and even recent posts I think the 400' fences are a good thing. Anyone or team that has players able to reach that mark will really have some bragging rights.
The only place I know of that has a field about like to that is Pioneer Park in Mesquite NV. The upper baseball field there which is usually always in use for tournaments.
Teams with good hitters will show if not for the 400' challenge of a shot like that but then maybe for the gaps that will be there to place hit if you can. I know there are some good place hitters out there.
Grow, Bullhead, Grow.

Discussion: Proposed changes in our local league

Our senior league Fresno, has an open draft as well as tryouts for it. If you miss one of the two dates you in most cases need to wait until the next session starts and do that one. Been this was for at least 17 years. Trouble is it is imo a controlled board that runs it no matter what the players want in most cases. There are something like 21 voting members on it. They call it a rec league burt about half the players play travel ball. BOD is basically that way also.
Rules conctabntky change, for the better or worse depending on ones point of view.
We have HR rules that I believe are now t then an out. We have the run-through rule. Pick up players haver to fille rF 1sr base abds catcher, you on;t get those choices and froger which order but hit at bottom of or=der too. 2 CR's per inning. Managers do the draft and that is my letters as to order for picks... also players are rated by managers in tryouts and playing but then players aren't rated are they.
We have 50, 58 and 63 teams. Good league other that control issues imo. Took something 2 years ti finally get a decent ball there last year.
Tulare has simuliar one but afge used to start at 55 when I went down to play there.
The draft works for the most part if the managers did their homework evaluating th eplayers during the season and try outs. Sponsors that play can also help in the draft process, It's a good league working with the draft.

If they go about it draft wise it should worl our. Players will be split up in most cases but wa also have a couple provisions for that as we..

Good luck.

Discussion: Thoughts on the new ISSA Super Divisions?

Some good points here from Bruce and Jawood.
Good idea but as also mentioned having to play, for lack of other wording, out of division or something else would kill the fun as is happening here now.
It would be a like old times, he who can 'buy' the team, likely will win. That said, it is also what killed it back then in time.
Having the venue in a central location is good.

Discussion: Shoulder Pain

Besides all the sprays, ointments, etc, there are the steroid shots. All work to some point but
it really depends on the why it hurts. Arthritis, strains, pulls or torn???
You don't want to continue like this should it be worse than you think...
Have it checked out...
I paid dearly for letting it go. Don't do the same.
Best of 'luck' to you.

E4/E6 is correct I pressed hard in that arch areas of 'stretch' the ligaments\tendon there under the foot. I have had it 3 times over the years.Stretching the footing a towel pulling back on the toes area helps the stretch also.

Discussion: Bat Flex

Flex for barrel or handle? Barrel you get the trampoline effect of the ball off bat. Handle for two piece bats adds to the wrist motion in the swing.
The combo could work against you as mentioned above in the timing when ball meets bat in swing motion.
Barrel flex imo, too much might lessen the longevity of bat just as much as a stiffer flex, but it all comes down to the user and his power of lack of.

Guess I wasn't far off...
IMO they don't use enough events ( or perhaps brackets with fewer teams) for the moves, but still it works it seems.

Discussion: Automatic Move Ups

Think you have more here than just for one answer.
Yea 3 events for the auto move.

Combined teams depends on 'ability' & who they played for ratings wise...don't forget they do not rate players... :>)

My experience is that; say a AA *team* uses 3 players that played AAA within the last 2 years or so, the AA *team* will play AAA for that event. I believe there is some leeway for those 3 players however. But wouldn't count on it if they played primarily AAA.

So the 'chip' answer IMO would be yes.

Within the site and a few posts by staff and my self, there is a formula for this. Might want to look for it.
They do a good job though working it out fairly.

Discussion: SSUSA Rules Committee Meeting

Just my observations. Curiosity on vote nays and abstention.
Just seems you actually treat men and women differently while playing the same game (ratings).
As I read the info, I felt it was the best meeting that has been conducted.
Voting members in attendance I read and are as you say elsewhere.

big mike last line, bottom of post SSAUS made for it.

Going to be a long cold stretch for many before they travel to FL for the TOC. Stay healthy.
