N/G.... I realize you are probably only using the dunking a basketball with a trampoline thing as an extreme example, but have you ever actually dunked a basketball with (or without) a trampoline? At my age (and at my weight and being totally vertically challenged) I have and it is fun.. It was also fun to dunk on the elementary school yard 8 foot rims. It is also fun to still hit a softball a long way on a good day.... I'll still play if I can't use my ultra because it is fun... that is really what this game means to most of us. I see the Einsteins, the Woodies, the PeteD's and the Stonemen at tourneys all the time. They are having fun playing a game they love. Nobody trying to hurt anybody, nobody seriously bad- mouthing anyone ... just everyone having a goodtime competing at whatever level they can compete on and walking away after the game (win or lose) brothers in a game they enjoy...I don't know you... You are probably a good guy just comenting on what you see as a problem or shortcoming in this game ... I don't know what makes you tic and I really don't care...Lots of guys have tried to make some sort of reason out of your negative posts .. I just figure you have the right to be as negative and miserable as you want to be... your business. But if you seriously want to have some sort of impact on senior softball and its rules.... my adivce would be to maybe meet some of those guys you are throwing your stones at and have some positive meaningful discussions rather than always trying to just get that last word in... Just my thoughts.. Maybe you don't care about my thoughts and with that, delete what I have said and move on. I got a little wordy... just wanted to let you know that dunking a basketball using a trampoline at age 58, 6 foot 1 inch and 250lbs (maybe I am fudging a little on that) is actually fun and does give me some sense of accomplishment.

good luck.... docswear

Ok Bruce.... Lets try Bret.... played by James Garner
Brent played by Robert Colbert, Bart played by Jack Kelly and, of course, the often forgetten Beau played by Roger Moore.................
My question... Who played Sugarfoot? Yeah, Woody, if you are reading this I had to have some mention of a food product...

softballer.... No... that would be our very unappreciated manager.... #19... I voted to keep that 30 lb ice chip in cooler but wiser heads prevailed and he was just doused with the cold water. You guys deserved the cudos... Kept it loose and fun without compromising the game.

I will second Einstein's comments about the tourney.. Really felt everything went pretty smooth. The AAA division literally could have been won by any of the nine teams (yes, I said 9) participating. The outfielders complained a bit about the outfield ground, but, hey, what would you expect from the outfielders. The umpiring seemed consistent in most cases and the competition and sportsmanship was better than in most tourneys. Thank you Terry and Fran for a well run tourney and thanks to all of the other AAA teams for making this such a fun weekend.

Dbax... thanks again for the information. Harrahs sounds out of the question due to the distance and possible traffic.

Wood.... you know me, I live to keep my bride happy but we actually could stay there for free.....of course staying in a hotel with my wife that is "free" is using questionable judgement when there is a casino on the premises.... cheaper to stay at a five star place on the beach....

Dbax:... thanks for the heads-up..... very helpful..... do you have any idea how close the Harrah's hotel/casino is to the fields at Caesar Chavez Park? We get a pretty big break to stay at a Harrahs and just wondered if it would be close enough to make it worth staying there.

thanks

cowboy bill:

Wow.... You asked the $64,000 question. Who is the Wood. SalioK gave us some basic information but there is really so much more. Don't know if anyone wants to add any further information for Bill but this post could be fun for those who know Woody to throw their 2 cents in. He certainly wouldn't hesitate to jump all over this if it was about someone else. I've known him for 25 years. Played with him and against him. I would throw this out. Woody has never met a guy he wouldn't try to confuse with irrelevant banter.

You have my support in this action!! It is a shame that his ideas and concepts could not have been presented in a way as to not disrupt the function of this board. You should not have any second thoughts about having to resort to this. So many tried so hard to get him to see this. Enough said. Stoneman, Pro, Pete D, The Wood, E. Ness , Eintstein, and so many others had it right when they suggested just ignoring the negative posts. He has no one to blame but himself.

Woody..... what do you do, just kind of lurk around waiting for me to get on line just so you can harass me? Yes.... that was me at the Holiday Inn Express and yes I was in line the second time at the "all you can eat breakfast" and yes, I still chose the Holiday Inn Express next door to the KK donut place so I can have a jelly-filled after I have my main course. How's things? Have you recovered from your fore-head first slide into second base you attempted in Anaheim? That dive gave Greg Lougainis a run for his money.

cuda65:
If you asked the surgeon to make one eye focus for up close (monovision), that eye was left near-sighted. That allows you to read, but, also leaves you focused up close instead of at long distance. If that does not work for you and you would rather wear readers for close and have both eyes for longer distance, certainly you could have a LASIK procedure to correct both the myopia and astigmatism as long as there are no other predisposing conditions. The intraocular lens you had implanted does come in a bifocal type design. There are several different designs and the ultimate goal would be to have clear vision at both distance and near. The bifocals are not perfect, however, do allow decent near vision. Some reports of halos around lights and less than perfectly "crisp" distance vision. Most ballplayers prefer good distance in both eyes and deal with the readers, however, you could keep the monovision and wear either glasses or a contact lens when you play ball if you don't want another surgery. Hope that helps.. LASIK only has the ability to correct one distance. No such thing as a "multi-focus" LASIK procedure yet. That's why we are stuck with a monovision correction.

Does anyone know how the shortstop from Palm Springs Heat fared in his visit to the hospital. He was hit in the head by a bad bouncing ground ball in the game against us (Mustangs) and we just wanted to see if he was ok.

Woody.... Thought I might throw my hat into the message board ring. I missed the Krispy thing because Dunkin Donuts was having a half-off sale on donut holes. I left the proctology practice long ago to try my hand at a field with less openings.

TerryDarc:
I have been working with two large LASIK centers for the past 7 years or so and do pre and post-op care. Due to the tremendous advancements in "weeding out" potential poor candidates for the procedure, the number of complications has been reduced dramatically. A small number of patients still experience dry eyes, halos around lights, occasional hazy vision as well as the expected loss of near vision due to the aging process known as presbyopia. Since you play softball (presumably at night as well as daytime), I would probably discourage you from doing monovision (unless, of course, you would be willing to wear either a contact lens in your near vision eye or glasses) due to some loss of depth perception and general acuity. If you want more info, feel free to contact me by e-mail at docswear@cs.com. Well over 90% of patients are completely satisfied (if not thrilled) with the experience and results in our practice.
