That said, as a "rabbit who runs 7-10 times per game, I am very grateful not having to slide at home. |

I have worked in over twenty states and I have to say that I love the attitude of Arizonans. I had some race horses at Turf Paradise the year they shot down the MLK holiday.The reason they did this was because they felt that the only people who would get this day off were government workers and they already had enough paid holidays. To lose the Super Bowl and be painted a racist state was a travesty. Now it seems that a lot of groups want to bang on Arizona again. I have enjoyed playing against Arizona teams and have really enjoyed talking with you guys in between games. You live there,not me,so I would never presume to judge your situation. All I can say is that I will not support any organization who gives in to special interest groups and cancels business with the state of Arizona. |

Stick the barrel in hot water and it should come off easily. I sanded both the barrel and cap, applied the glue liberally and gave it two weeks. I have not had any problem since. |

As bad as some of these batter's boxes get dug up, it is dangerous at home plate and I am happy to avoid that situation. |

This was the original mantra of Socialists and one has to look no further than the family unit to realize that we all practice socialism. Parents make sacrifices all the time so that their children can have a better life. However, most parents are unwilling to make those same sacrifices so that the children of someone else can have those same advantages. This is why, in the history of our planet, Socialism has never worked on a large scale. |

How's this for an alternative? * Ten man lineups. You hit, you play the field. * No CRs. If you can make it to first base you can make it the rest of the way. * No reentry rule except for injuries. This would force teams to make decisions. Do we go with the fast singles hitter who has a good glove or the big bomber who can't outrun Rosie O'Donnell and is a liability in the field. Before you write me off as a skinny guy with issues, think of what might result. Teams would carry less players so we might just end up with more teams. Also, there would be no reason to stockpile power hitters which may very well result in less divisions. I realize this might force some players to get fitter but that's a good thing. Trust me, I won't miss running for you. |

Umps and players should not be adversaries and over the years I have met many umpires that I have come to like as umps and as people. |

On a close play the team at bat wants the runner to be safe so he looks safe. The defense wants the runner to be out so to them he looks out. That is why we need an umpire. That said, I think there are only three things you can get on an umpire for: 1. not knowing the rules 2. not hustling 3. having a horrible attitude |

One point I would like to make is that believing in evolution is not necessarily anti-religious. I teach History at a Catholic high school and Darwin is a normal part of the curriculum. There are actually two branches of evolution theory: micro-evolution, which deals with changes in a particular species, and macro-evolution which deals with one species changing to another species. Darwin's theory of natural selection hits micro-evolution right between the eyes but it comes up woefully short in explaining macro-evolution. A recent theory is what is called Intelligent Design. Although it seems to support the story of Creationism, it was formulated by scientists not clergy. It doesn't contradict Darwin but it tries to find an explanation for things that Darwin can't. Go ahead and look into it. If you have an open mind, you may find it as interesting as I did. |

The only reason I could see for using that format was that it forced teams to show up in full for the Friday games, resulting in lost wages for some of us but possibly increased hotel revenues for others. This year I'm with Gusto and have no problem with the format. Six teams in our division; a five game round-robin; top two teams play for the championship. Everybody plays the same teams so it is inherently fair. They might have to go to tie-breakers so if you win the toss, take sticks. Hope to see you up there. |

What really hurt was that we played three of the four teams in the seeding games. In fact we were the only team that beat the eventual winner. I put over 1200 miles on my car that weekend, way too much to play as well as we did and not have a chance to win it on Sunday. |

We have problems with holes, sprinkler heads, and occasional collisions with fences and teammates, but never batted balls.I did see one outfielder seriously hurt by a batted ball in Burbank, but it came from another field. Redo your math without that big chunk of green and see if that doesn't make the infield a more dangerous place to hang out. |

In some it is an appeal play; it others it is not. B) On the first throw by an infielder, the runner is awarded two bases from the base he was on when the ball was pitched. Since he was the batter, he would end up on second. The only way he could end up on third is if he had passed first base before the shortstop threw the ball. |
