Thanks!! I think I will purchase one this week. After it is broke in, do you think the rubber batting practice balls will be the balls to take BP with.

Discussion: Home Run Rule

Hello softballers!! Some teams depend on their home runs to compensate for their defense, or speed. If you check the run ratio(runs aloud vs runs scored) of certain teames you would know what i mean. This home run rule would make mangers rebuilt or restructure their teams. Soft ball is suppose to be a fun game. Any balls over the fence that is an out is like taking away the dunk in basketball. Some can some can,t. At lease mak it a single, let the big boys swing away. This still want guarantee a victory for the Major plus teams. Try it first before it is sit in stone. Guess you wondering if i,m a Major plus player. Yes i am. have been since day one (5 years). Now i may be forced to change my approach to the game, because i think hr every timei go to the plate. Not that i can hit it out everytime, but the mental approach is what makes major plus what it is.

Discussion: RULE CHANGES...COMMENTS

He is my two cents, I agree with combining the two divicions, but the HR rules need to be 5 a and a single. A home rule hitter likes the fact that he can swing away, that is their mine set. The reson senior softball was better that the young ball was because of the very fact. Our equipment is better so let us use it. Another thing, the young guys just turning 50 would allso like the fact that they can swing away. I watch softball all the time, and It just do not agree with me to see so many player cutting down on the swing to hit seed throught he in field. That is a part of the game, but so it Home Runs. I know it,s tough making rules and trying to keep the game growing, but remember everybody does not have the same talent level, but don,t take the bat out of one hand because he maybe be a little stronger. If so, let,s play all singles out of the park. Good luck with what ever you come up with.

If the home team is batting and a certain amount of runs are needed for the run rule, the home runs would help you get there quicker. The bases was loaded a few times, a power hitter was up to bat, he hit the ball hard, but it went out of the park for an out. Instead of a run rule now you have another 2 ending to play which lasted another hour. I know what some people would say. Bat control. Maybe i,m speaking from a formal player myself. Good bats good ball equal long games. i wolld like to see open ball come back once in a while. These two team could have played open.

This pass week I wittness some pretty good 50 Major plus softball played against the Seacrest Mavericks and the Houston Texans. It was a best out of three. They did play one pool against each other. The score of that game was Houston Texan 18 Mavericks 14. The first tournment between these teams were played at 7;30 pm on Saturday this game was won by The Mavericks 27-20. At 9pm the same evening another game started 3 1/2 hours later the games ended with the Houston texans coming out on top 48-34. The following morning at 11am the final game was played. This was a good games. It was nip and tuck all the way. In the top of the 7th ending the Houston Texan went up 34 to 21. The Mavericks tied the scored at 34 after all was said and done. The tie breaker was applied after that. The Houston texan could not push a run accross, the games ended The Seacrest Mavericks 35 the Houston Texan 34. Thr home run rule did come into play during the tournment. At one time or another each one of the teams used their home runs after that home runs were hit for outs. I think teams like this should not put limites on home runs. The games were very long, but if it was open Home runs the games may have been over sooner.

Defense matters a lot. Consider a good defense palyer acounting for minus 4 runs or more a game..Example (a great catch with the bases loaded) In the NBA a block shot could help win a game. In softball it does not show up in the stats. That,s why it,s not looked at......MVP,s and all-tournment are bosed on batting avg. Think about it.
