July 31, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: Bats Discussion: Tired of the Ultra I know and can tell BashBro1 is not an attorney and could play one on TV, it's just that he stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. All that said about the Miken's are true but hey what are you going to do. Use it or lose it. Save money and get another stick or try and keep up with the Jones and keep getting another one. Either way you pay. |
July 9, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: Bats Discussion: DeMarini Juice Saw the bat in action this past weekend. It seemed live as the ball was moving off the bat on line drives and it also had good carry to it. The ball was a 400 comp. Looks like it alot better than the yellow EVO. The new EVO (Red) also looks a real good. Balls were very crisp coming off the bats and had a good sound to the connection. Swung the bats and it feels better than the Silver EVO. I likeed it...will swing it w/the ASA balls. The ball was DeMarini 375. OH yeah the ball left the yard in a hurry too. Just observations... |
July 4, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Platooning is what we need Hey Einstein novel idea... Dbax...ridiculous? All any league or tourney needs to do is try it and teams that want to platoon, platoon and teams that want to play "regular" play regular. No problemo. I'll bet in a touney w/alot of teams the plattooners would be alot fresher going into the final games whether they come out of the losers or winners brackeks. Novel idea? Ridiculous? Heck I'd play...Dyin fo play. |
June 28, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: Bats Discussion: is the NRG- PRO SERIES 600 MAXLOAD LEGAL The ASA banned the NRG? The NRG-500 is ASA approved. The NRG-600 is U-trip/NSA/ISA. Just to clarify since the NRG's has 2 models. |
June 21, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Team ratings? A Funny thing happen on the way to the Forum... If you start a new team, you are rated AAA? But if your area director can verify that you are not a AAA team then you can be rated AA? If then you are a new team and rated AAA and go on to play and are not a AAA team how can you revert to AA? Appeal process...appeal to who? The tournament that you just participated in? SSUSA? National Senior Ratings? Here in Hawaii we don't have a real senior league for our 50's. Yes I heard about Family Stones winning the Vegas 50 AA division and are now a AAA team which is fair. But what about the other teams coming out of this state. AAA or AA? A new team just go together and they hear that they are AAA but the Fresh Poke from Maui who finished 2nd to that Family Stones team in the Vegas tournament is still AA? But I am still a firm believer in the clasifications or else all hell will break loose and teams will sandbag and others will not play. |
June 15, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Balls Balls??? 44/375's...That is the purpose of these balls. We use the Wilson/Demarini 44/375 here in Hawaii and have the same results. Durability is tremedous, we use the leather ball. Flight and carry is the same. If you hit it will leave the yard (300ft). All ASA play here in Hawaii uses this ball. It is also the ball that ASA uses for their National Tournaments. Last year in Vegas the ball used was the Decker Shark. The markings were 44/375 but I think that something was up with that ball. The ball was leaving the park regularly. Then I hear that Decker was sited for mis-printing of their softballs or something. Obviously harder balls give more action as far as fencing the ball goes but the 44/375 brings the defensive game back to the players. |
May 25, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: a little something I agree super photos...I agree and disagree with the United States. Greatest country in the world bec' of all that have given and those that are presently giving their lives for not just US but for the common good of this planet. Evil will not prevail whether is abround or right here in our Country. But hey guys this is for Softball and Softballers. To me everyday is a great day to play 2. Dyin fo' play...in a Free Country. |

May 11, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Would anyone like to see tournament results posted here? Super idea... Seems like only SSUSA results are posted and granted it is a SSUSA website but I agress wouldn't that hard to have a results tab for most of the Tournament results. Each individual tournament would be responsible to forward their Results, All Tourney teams, individual awards, etc. Would create more of a readership and interest. How about it SSUSA? It's for the players. |
May 8, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: What's the call? My observation on what's presented... It's an appeal play if the opposing teams brings it (the bat)to the umpire prior to the next pitch or the defensive team leaving the field of play. Batter would be "out" and ejected from the contest. The umpire can look at the bat on his own and make the call. Also the organization (ASA, NSA, etc) can also take further action not to mention the tournament/league can also sanction said player. This whether the batter knew about the equipment or not. |

March 30, 2006 Stones 1B | Topic: Bats Discussion: Bat Tapers As far as bat tapers or tape to build up the knob area...if I am not mistaken the rule is that the taper/tape can be no more than 1/4" from the end of the knob. The endof the knob to the taper/tape needs to be at least 1/4". It's in the ASA rule book under Altered Bats...Good Luck |
