Discussion: New Season

Maybe someone can explain this. If the Winter Nationals is the start of the new year, shouldn\'t the TOC be played before this Tournament since it is for the winners of the previous year? These 2 tournaments should be flip flopped I would think. It certainly would be better for the cold weather teams.
If this has been brought up before I missed it.

Anyone know of a decent reasonably priced hotel near Desert West Park in Phoenix. First time going there. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

There are no scores posted for the 65s and up as of yet. Its been raining hard here in this area and was wondering if they have been getting in their games or if they are behind. Anyone know?

Hopefully someone can answer this for me. Can you just put together a team to play in a national tournament, such as the eastern nationals and not play in any other tournaments all year long? This would be a team that has never played senior ball before.

Discussion: Teams Playing Down

My understanding was if that 55 major team dropped down to play 50 aaa they could not add 50 age players to thier roster. I think i know what team you might be talking about and i believe they had a couple 50 players with them. And that is not right.

Discussion: RULES???

I COULD BE MISTAKEN, BUT I BELIEVE THE RULE THIS YEAR( FOR EXAMPLE ) IS IF YOU PLAY WITH A 50 MAJOR TEAM YOU NEED TO BE RELEASED FROM THAT TEAM TO PLAY WITH ANOTHER TEAM IN THAT SAME DIVISION. ONCE YOU ARE RELEASED TO DO THAT, YOU HAVE TO PLAY WITH YOUR SECOND TEAM THE REST OF YEAR. YOU CAN NOT GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL TEAM YOU STARTED WITH.

I just realized that if you go to bottom of the ssusa post regarding the TOC, it tells you what you can do with your rosters as far as any changes.

Gary my understanding of the rosters is that you have to play with the same one that you won 1 of the qualifing tournes with. also if you lost 2 players you may add i from only the upper age bracket and of the same class. Maybe someone from staff can shed some light on this before 2 long. It sure would clear up the confusion and make sure everyone is on the same page.

Discussion: WHY DO WE KEEP GOING TO THESE TOURNAMENTS?

We are a double aa team out of midwest area and we do not not have the backing to be able to travel. We pay everything out of our pocket to play 5-6 tournaments a year in the area and there are very very few aas. We enjoy the competition even when we play the aaa teams. I believe we are competitive with some of them as long as they are legit aaa but we have played alot of them that just beat up on us and probably were major teams playing down. We would take the chance moving up to try and compete but we dont want to get our butts kicked all the time, we would just be wasting time and money. I dont know if any of this makes sense but our guys enjoy playing.

Does anyone know about the Tournament Of Champions that is being held in Polk County Florida at end of February? Have not seen any info and was wondering if they are even going to still have it.

Discussion: Plate As A Strike

I like the plate and mat for for strikes also. Some guys never swing the bat until they get full counts on them. If the pitcher is having trouble trying to find the strike zone with the plate not being a strike, you would have more walks, less innings played and your defense would fall asleep. Just my opinion and learning alot on this web sight.
