Feb. 22, 2018 GORILLA4S | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Clarification on Offensive Interference and Catcher Obstruction. No crying in softball. Hey batter-batter, hey batter-batter, hey batter-batter.....swing! I'd say, focus on your AB and I frankly can speak for the majority of players, I don't hear a thing when in the box. |
Sept. 16, 2009 GORILLA4S | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Car Insurance James, I pay $1400 for full coverage on a 2009 Audi A4 Cab, 1999 Audi A6, and liability only on a 1989 GMC PU, through Cincinnati Ins. Deductibles are 500/100. I agree with what Taits says, make sure the older vehicles are driven by the kids (liability). Shop around. Try Progressive's website. BTW, I'm 55 and my wife's 41 and investing in a radar detector was the best money I ever spent for my wife. Saves on tickets and insurance premiums. Good luck. |

Feb. 11, 2009 GORILLA4S | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Bad idea by SSUSA This explains the fact that while reserving rooms in Phoenix (Embassy Suites 44th & McDowell) this past October for the "Senior" rate of I believe it was $149/night, I discovered on their website a rate of $109. After a direct and somewhat stressful conversation with the general manager and the obvious listing on the website, an agreement was made to honor that reduced price. However once I relayed that information to my teammates that rate in a matter of hours was discontinued. Hmmm. Jeff AMR50's |

May 28, 2008 GORILLA4S | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: MIDWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS This may be a dumb question but...is the Midwest Championships in Champaign IL considered a qualifier or does it fall under the same guidelines as the Eastern Nationals and Worlds in Phoenix where you must have qualified and have a submitted roster prior to entering? Our tourney schedule has been somewhat skewed due to the cancellation of a local qualifier we planned on attending. Any info would be appreciated. Jeff AMR 50\'s |

Sept. 7, 2007 GORILLA4S | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Knee Replacement I too have osteoarthritis and managed the discomfort for the last 5 years or so with ibuprofin. This year however I experienced pain in my left knee like never before. Subsequently a cortizone shot and anti-inflamatory's have alleviated the discomfort. I play 5 days/8 games a week, plus monthly tourneys and so far so good. My doctor also suggested Synvisc once the cortizone (3 shots safely) fails to work. For quality of life a knee replacement down the road. Perhaps in the next 10 years medical advancements will provide something more than a "low impact" replacement knee which will allow us to continue playing the game we dearly love. |
Aug. 20, 2007 GORILLA4S | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Team Thrown out of Eastern national From what I understand, there was some confusion with classifications. The AMR 60's apparently came in at AAA and should've been Major, dominated the competition and hit a large number of HR's, subsequently thrown out before the finals started. This is what I heard but you know how that goes..... What were the final results for the 50 Majors? Anyone have that info. Thanks, Jeff |

Oct. 21, 2006 GORILLA4S | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Tell us your superstitions and quirky things before or during games Gary quotes: "The best part is pitching that style under ASA rules and seeing what I can get away with" Is'nt that the truth! LOL And the subsequent complaining to the ump |
Oct. 21, 2006 GORILLA4S | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Plate As A Strike I started playing SS in 2005, and while experiencing the mat from time to time in the 90's, I love the fact that the plate is also a strike. As far as throwing curves John, you still have the inside part of the plate with a RH hitter where it would'nt be a stike without the mat. Anyone who has pitched U-Trip loves some of the advantage given back to the pitcher from the hitter (who is holding a frikkin U2) :-) We still throw the ball underhand at about 4 MPH. Above all, there is not a better sight than watching the look of a hitter who had strike three called when the pitch hits the front of the plate and bounces back or the inside corner of the mat and eludes the catchers mitt.LOL |

Oct. 19, 2006 GORILLA4S | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Tell us your superstitions and quirky things before or during games Never have sex before a game...it weakens the legs(my two ex-wives will confirm that) Walk behind the ump getting in the box(that can become comical) I mark my socks left and right. |
