| Oct. 23, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Purposeful Stalling using 6 pitches is the long way to do it. could have been done in 3 :-) 7.3 • BATTING POSITION C. The batter shall not step directly in front of the catcher to the other batter's box while the pitcher is in position to pitch. EFFECT: The ball is dead, the batter is out and the runners may not advance |

| Aug. 27, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SSUSA and Southwest airlines @gott2play - that's my backup plan. I was hoping to maintain a-list status in 2026 but didn't get enough flights this year. The good news is, you just have to have a SWA visa to get the 1 free bag, you don't actually have to use it to book the trip. Customer support mentioned it takes 14 days to recognize you as a card holder so anyone getting one need to do so in advance of their flight. $69 is the lowest fee, i think they have a couple options for more $$. But if you check a bag twice you are saving $$ with the card rather than paying bag fees. |

| July 10, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: SLC Schedule Hi, reviewing the recently published schedule for SLC. In the 55/60 Gold schedule it looks like you have 2 vs 5 playing twice (Friday 1 PM and Saturday 10 AM) and 3 vs 6 playing twice (Friday 1 PM and Saturday 10 AM). Is this intended in the pool play round to play same teams twice? it shows this way on the schedule and master grid. Thanks |
| June 5, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Uniform Rule on the Line Up Card I was at a tournament earlier this year and 2 players on a team had same number, but the jerseys were distinctly differently. Ump said it was OK because it was easy to see the difference of their shirts. |
| May 26, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Salt Lake City schedule I saw that they did have 8 but still had me wondering. We just came back from Raleigh, they had 9 fields going and they split the 65 & over to a separate session. I think we had 8 fields in KS last month and also split sessions. I'm fairly new to tournaments and always noticed 2 session, at least where I played. Regardless, I'll be in SLC, and looking forward to it. |
| May 26, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Salt Lake City schedule Hi, just double checking whether the posted schedule for SLC in July is correct? It looks like all divisions are playing Fri - Sun rather than having 65 and over during the week. If this is right, should we expect evening games and perhaps a late Sunday finish if we're fortunate enough to make it all the way? TIA. |
| April 25, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Land of Enchantment Hello Daniel. Did they recently update the fields? We played there last year and I recall the fields were grass not turf. I'm looking forward to playing there again this year. |
| April 15, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Infield fly rule In our 60+ and 70+ leagues locally ( a lower level of competition than ssusa tournaments) we've decided that there is no such thing as "ordinary effort" on an infield fly. if you can't catch it then it is a live ball. |
| April 14, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Infield fly rule Perhaps because, as you describe, nobody moved to catch the ball the umpire didn't feel "ordinary effort" applied? 1.41 • INFIELD FLY A fair fly ball (not including a line drive) that can be caught by any fielder with ordinary effort when first and second bases or first, second and third bases are occupied with less than two outs. Any fielder can catch an infield fly. |
| March 26, 2025 GMCinCOS | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Midwest Championships - playing fields Interesting, the way they state that makes me think for session 2 we'll be dealing with full size baseball fields. |
