Trumpball. I would suggest you watch a few games where the screen is used and then make your comments.I play 75 to 100 games a yr. where the screen is used. Our leagues and assns. have answers for all you what ifs. No question, screens flat out, save pitchers from injuries.........

Worried about being called a sissy........ Are you kidding me? At our age?
This isn't high school.
And what wrong with a screen? Ask the poor guy who just lost an eye!
Lets get with the program and start protecting our pitchers BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!!!!!!!!!

Paco, Sounds like YOU have been watching too many soaps! Get Real. Like you, I feel blessed to play but also would like the rules to be followed by everyone. SEE ABOVE! If SSUSA follows their rules, things usually work out. It's the time they believe the mgrs. and DON'T know the player being added, that the "real" team gets screwed. BEEN THERE DONE THAT. Speaking from 13 yrs past experience! Are you, LITTLE BOY?

If your "qualified"players can't make it, you should stay home! Granted "things happen" so deal with it. Why should another "real" team have to play against a team picking up "illegal" players. Next time take enough players to the qualifiers. It is TOTALLY unfair to allow this to happen because I can guarantee you that the team that is saying they are short their regular players will "magically" find healthy players that are better than their so called "unhealthy" ones.

Discussion: Is the game better in 2009

The main problem I had was with the PPR not being understood and used properly. Too many umpires had different interpretations of this dumb rule and it made a big difference in several of our games and I'm tired of the same old excuses the tourn. directors use. Get these umpires trained or get rid of this rule!

Sure would be nice to be able to play more games at Golden Eagle instead if Rancho San Raphael. What a lousy complex. Why not schedule later games at the good complex. I would much rather play under the lights at a good complex than that dump.........

Discussion: Screen Vice PPR

Yes, on the use of a screen. What good is the PPR after the pitcher is injured or even killed!!!!! What purpose did it serve. If protecting the pitcher is of primary concern, which it should be, this rule is worthless.

Lost a game 22 to 21. Mid game, my player hits a ball up the middle. Never was touched by or hit the pitcher. Batter was called out and the run that had scored, was negated. I went to tourn. director and he told ump he was wrong. Ump tells me [after dr. leaves the discussion], he'll call it the way he wants. I go back to the dr. with that statement. He says if it happens again to let him know. What a bunch crap!

Suggestion. Call for rooms yourself. You'll save a lot of money. Until using SSUSA's co. for "special tourn. rates" results in REALLY getting a special money saving rate, you'll be spending more. using this "service"

How can you possibly have meaningful "Champion" when you have a situation where all teams in a bracket don't get to play each other. You can't really be assured the top 4 teams from a bracket containing 6 or more teams, will compete for the championship. If your guaranteed 5 games, all brackets should consist of 6 teams. Then have the champions of each of the brackets [in the same division] play each other. Then you'll have a true champion. Again, I see more disapointed teams!

My opinion. LISTEN TO THE GUYS THAT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE. If you haven't at least tried using a screen, your opinion is just that. YOUR OPINION! "Try it. You'll like it" My opinion.

Discussion: COMPOSITE BATS ARE UNSAFE

The bottom line: I've been playing 'senior" ball for 14 yrs, and have seen no injuries in this 1500+ game period of time that ANYONE could convince me would have been avoided if we were still using bats we were all swinging at the beginning of this 14 yr. period. NONE NONE NONE! Including my 3 cracked ribs 12 yrs. ago when I was unable to get out of the way while coaching 3rd. You can do all the "studies" you want. They mean NOTHING! The proof is in the real world results. My injury was caused because I could not get out of the way fast enough NOT because my teammate was swinging a "Demarini'. This injury was unavoidable and nobody was at fault. Injuries happen. PERIOD!!!

Discussion: hotel room rates

Finally!!!! someone else speaks up. SSUSA gets a commission on EVERYTHING! I don't really care about that. If they can, that's OK. They bring a lot of $ into the various cities hosting their events. They should. I'D DO THE SAME. What I have a problem with is these "special rates" not being "SPECIAL". In fact they are more expensive, and that is plain wrong!. We are being handed a line of BS on how they benefit us as players. That IS unconscionable. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to find out it costs more to get these SPECIAL rates. I'm not just referring to hotels, but also car rentals, airline tickets etc. Someone must think we are stupid. Also, in the future, FYI, if you want to stay at any hosting hotel, signing a "exclusive" contract doesn't mean we have to avoid that hotel. Don't identify yourself as being with any group. The reservation dept. won't know your with SSUSA and you won't have to pay more for the "special" rate OR be precluded from even just booking. As I said before, THIS PROGRAM WILL TURN INTO A REAL PR NIGHTMARE IF NOT CORRECTED.
