Full Monty, Snot Nose, All I said was I didn't care about listing the women pitchers. There was a time when I did as I coached a travelling team of women and played/coached a travel team of men. But that time has passed. |

In some places it appears that it's OK to have a roster of 15 players, so if 3 have moved, they can be replaced according to the guidelines. And as I write this, it's still not clear to me from your answer if they could only go to 12 or go to their original roster of 15. It seems to say different things in the same couple of sentences. For #2, your answer is clear, but there sure seems to be players being picked up (even here on the board) that would not be eligible according to the guidelines. As in "I'm gonna be in Florida for 3 weeks, would like to play in the TOC, and ......". A list would assure other teams those situations didn't happen, and that #1 did. In many tournaments pick-up or add-on players are identified on the roster. Thanks again for your quick response. |

Is there a "roster addition" list published? |

Bobby Davis is one of the best I've seen.... But there are also some real talented hitting teams as well. I'd pay money to see anyone keep them to one run. No, I'd put my 401K, house, and every dollar I've ever made to see that happen. Trust me, every pitcher gets lit up at times here... |

A lot of the posters neither fund a team, umpire, nor coach, as well as participate as a player. We all love the game, that's why we are here, but to blindly say let's just play no matter what is like getting in a car and saying let's just go, when sometimes it might be Stevie Wonder who's your driver. |

But Tim is right, the offensive side of the ball wants all the advantages. So in some ways doing a poll on the 1-1 count is like asking people over 300 lbs if they like buffets. It's asking Guy Harvey if he likes fishing, or Peyton Manning if he likes being a quarterback. It should be no surprise what the answer might be. Hell, let's just put the damn thing on a tee and get it over with. Oh, my mistake, many umpires already do that by ignoring the 12' arc rule. Heaven forbid we put a mark on the fence to use as a guide (by the way, that mark would be above your view on the bill of the cap). Forget the arc rule, forget the count rule, put the thing on a tee and put pads and helmets on everybody. Let the bat doctors have a sales tent right outside the field next to new bat sales. We're already closer to that than you think... |

I fail to realize in all of these type discussions there is almost a "venom like" approach to AAA teams that might hit more than 3 home runs on days they hit well. One day a AAA team may look like a Major team, and next week, they can't beat St. Mary's Home for Unwed Mothers. There's a significant difference between Major and AAA a nd that is the day in and day out consistency of hitting. It's not easy to make that leap without a pickup truck full of power delivered to your doorstep. It takes time to develop that. Must we dilute the AAA performance pool so that some lower teams in AAA now become competitive? Quit crying, it's a sad commentary.... |
| Jan. 4, 2013 southernson | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Out after 3 Home Runs JMO I'm weary of hearing about sandbaggers and tying the solution to that as being a low home run rule with outs as the penalty. Does anyone in their right mind think this is really going to work? IT DIDN'T BEFORE and IT WON'T NOW. People crying about sandbaggers now are the ones who cried about them in the past, and they will keep crying about it in the future. Until there is a link between the problem and a solution that maybe doesn't solve everything, but improves it. The problem is that a lot of teams break up and reform to avoid moving up. And no one polices,penalizes, or stops that abuse in those situations. So it continues..... And good wasted oxygen is spent talking about AAA with 3 HRs and an out as being a solution. It's just &^%$# sad.... |
