K man, I wish you luck on that first one.... Run it out all the way... and get that ball! ;-) I kind of find it silly that you can't Tape more than two wraps of tape... some guys like thicker handles and some like thin. I don't believe you get better performance by the thickness of the handle. If we are talking Softball;-)

Discussion: RECLASSIFYING A TEAM/AND OR PLAYERS

I believe you guys(Players) are stuck with your rating.. the only way I heard of, is if you have a medical exception that clearly makes a player much less of a player than their rating suggests.. Not that easy to do. As for whole team, you can play at your current rating and then petition based on your competitiveness at that level.. you should call the main office and discuss your options.. My team was reclassified back to major once.. We didn't complain but took our shot and followed the process. We are back in Major plus again.

Discussion: Looking For Some Feedback

Omar, it helps when guys are honest with themselves...Even Starters! I remember coming back from achilles issue this last year and didn't have my legs 100 percent in Westerns, I took a backseat and let my other teammates help me out especially in the Outfield.. I had to be honest with myself and say to myself, others around me were probably going to get it done better than myself at this time...I know that typically Bench players are always looking for time and probably thinking they are a bit better than they really are.. I like that kind of ego to a point, but don't like when it gets the dugout Vibe down.. fine line for sure! I so much appreciate the bench guys, running for guys and helping out whenever they can... Thankless job, but not in my dugout, because I will personally thank them!

The way my North Cal Warriors run it...is we all chip in $150 per player... then we get some help by a few sponcers... I wouldn't care if we got the whole thing paid for, it's nice to know that we have skin in the game from each of our Teammates.
Air and hotel is on every one to pay for.. we run in about 14 tourneys a year, water, ice and sometimes beer get put in cooler by our manager! Balls are bought and then, I think big Ron makes his jeep payments with the rest ;-) That covers it!

Its about time other teams and people are to seeing the problem 50AAA is facing year after year after year in vegas spring and winter. Shadow Rock and hollywood need to be retired for the list of fields used by senior softball.

Hey Turtle man.. can't agree with you more OMAR...
Games like this shouldn't even be played IMO>. but if the directors have to get games in, the Rule works.. like I said, we had to play in two games at winter worlds and it was tough.. even with the new rule, some players still struck out. My team stopped going to BLD for TOC Northcal because the director put us on the sun field 3 years in a row.. I would rather spend time with the family than try and hit in that crap. We stopped playing in it last season... Nickname 36, I would challenge you to come up to my team and challenge their manhood... end of story!

I was in two of these games.... just a few thoughts.. I think it worked better than doing nothing at all, and I think if you wanted to be a little more effective you could make pitcher go to 8 feet from either side... part of the problem for the hitters in my games was trying to figure the angle... also, I would say that the batter should be able to request another side during his at bat if he found he couldn't see from his first choice... other than that it was a better option than not moving at all...

Discussion: Why so many shaved senior bats

It is not up to SSUSA, it's up to the players in the dugouts... I believe if you get caught the Manager of the team is suspended for 1 year... If I knew someone in my own dugout was swinging dirty, I would have to break his bat.. I know of players that swing/swung dirty and it is up to their own team to put a stop to it! That is the only way you would truly help put a stop to it...The one thing I remember when I was in the forties, is that we didn't have senior bats then and the shaved bats were out of control at that time... now with the senior bats, I felt that it did balance the game a bit against the shaved bats, as I thought everyone now has a hot bat... some now are a little hotter than others but if you truly hit the ball anywhere in the vicinity of the sweet spot, it will go with a regular senior bat..

Funny story, we have a guy when we first came to 50s that wanted all 1 dayers... he would run for everyone play outfield and never stop running... well by the second year in fifties he changed his mind about playing 5 games in one day.... LOL And as Dave said, nighttime vision is not the best for guys over 50... Happy Thanksgiving to all!
