Wow, we all like ending a game on a double play when on defense but a triple play is a 1 in a millon.
Can you share any of the Al Estes players by name or do they play on any other teams??
I am looking forward to playing them next year.
Strange how our 2 teams never played each other this year and we were in 2 tournaments together??
Overall though we did play a lot of teams in those 2 events that we have never played before.
I enjoyed talking with 5 or 6 of your guys in Des Moines and wish you guys good luck for the rest of your year.
Thanks

Al Estes sounds like another real good 50 Major Plus team. Hope to play them and your team next year.
Let me know if you hear the final outcome of the if game.
Thanks Again

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a miniscus which i had surgery on in 2000. Darn knee was popping and giving out just like yours.
Bad timing as it cost me going to the 45 + worlds that year with the Dan Smith team and it is costing you the big events as well.
Keep your spirits up and root root for the rest of your team that is still playing.
Best Wishes

T-REX
Thanks T-REX and it sure was an exciting time for us.
2 games decided by 1 run shows just how good both teams were playing.
Your 2 great defensive plays in the if game were huge and gave your team evey chance to beat us.
I think my decision to pitch the junk baller Joe (Einstein) was huge as you sure hit my other 2 pitchers real good. It was an experiment that had a happy ending.
Kelly's Sports is done for this year but we plan on attending from 4 to 6 worlds next year so i will see you then somewhere.
Have a safe and happy time until then.

Thanks for the congrats and our all world team all had a huge weekend for us.
Good luck this weekend in the ASA. We are the defending champions but will not be there. ASA is supposed to take t he event to Oklahoma city next year and we will be going to that for sure.
Ken was talking a little later in the year for the new video and he did mention that he had some Ga. guys in it.
PS. Ken can hit it big time. That man has a swing and he told me that this was just his first senior event.
Thanks again

Thanks for understanding. I never meant it in a bad way, i promise you that.
Talked to Ken Van Bogert today and will make a decision about selling his video by tommorow.
I am leaning to do so as he is one heck of a nice guy and what a home run hitter.
see ya next time

Thanks for the congrats.
My all world picks were
Denny Jones
Joe Rinaldi =Einstein
Art Tresser
Mike Burbank
MVP Rick Perez

The Combat bat is a brand new release called the Signature series and it was a limited edition run and says so right on the bat.
Combat made 1,000 of them and i will end up with half of them for re sale soon. The USSSA version or the one was used by 5 different players in Hutchinson is hotter then the ASA one which was used by only 1 of our players in Des Moines. The 3 combat 98 mph bats that i brought to Des Moines were not all the way broken in yet and the majority of the team swung the 100 mph freaks that we used last year in Des Moines.
This was Kelly's Sports last event this year and i wish your team Thermco and all the rest of the Senior teams a safe and fun time in the rest of your worlds this year.
Thanks Again

ROBO2, Gary Richter, Chip Kreugar, Gary Morris, The manager of the other New Jersey team and all the rest of the guys that i had met and had conversations with.
It was a pleasure talking with all of you this weekend. Lets all stick together and let Senior Softball heads know what it takes to make the events better for our teams. Speak up and they will listen.
Until next time we meet, be safe.

Nothing wrong with the balls and the heat did not really have an effect on them yet in the 2nd game.
Einstein is the best 2nd and 3rd baseman in senior softball and i put him in the presure cooker in the biggest game of his life with very short notice and he came thru with flying colors.
That being said pitching did effect his own hitting somewhat considering his 5 home run game on friday.
The if game was very very intense and only the hottest and most disiplined hitters came thru.
Einstein was more focused on pitching then anything and he is the main reason that we won the championship.
Damons put up 32 runs on my other 2 pitchers in the winners bracket game and could only put up 23 runs on Einstien in both championship games. The other 5 runs in the 1st championship game was on one of my other pitchers who came on in the 6th and 7th inning to give Einstien a breather.
Gary19, so have you picked a team yet for next year. I want to meet you. You really sound like you know the game.
Let me know
Thanks

Hi Steve Shannon
Sure missed you in Des Moines but i now realize that if you were there with Damon's we probably would not have held on the the 1 run win in the if game.
Strange game slowpitch softball.
49 runs meant that we could hit there pitchers and there 16 runs meant that they were having serious trouble with my knuckle and curve ball specialist = Einstein.
Yet we both came out and played a 13 to 12 game????
Nothing wrong with the ball as we still hit 5 out with it, just a very intense game played by both squads which did include some real real good defense.
Any plans for you to come back next year??
Let me know and until then take care and be safe.

I have a ton of respect for your team and i will now explain how i think in tournament play.
I will take visitor in all seeding games if i can to ensure that we get as many at bats as possible, i did that all year in our northern california tournaments.
If i see a eam scoring some real high numbers like the Randy Smith team and the Crush team did in Hutchinson KS, then i will also take visitor as well. That worked with Randy Smith as we put up 17 runs in the 1st inning but back fired with the Crush as we put up the ole goose egg.
I agree with you that the play down is not a good idea. I was thinking that it is a good way to see how major teams match up with major plus but it should not come at the expense of your team being eliminated early or not having a legitimate chance at winning.
I watched you guys at your bp. saturday morning and watched you beat thet eam on the other field and you were sure hitting it real good.
You had us down 12 to 1 and then 18 to 12 before we had the big inning and put me in a position where i had to walk your big man Ken who is one of the best home run hitters i have seen so far.
I have nothing but respect for Roberts Construction from Wisconsin and hope to see you guys next year somewhere. Until then good luck and be safe.

Discussion: Play Down for Major & Major Plus

Divisions.
We will soon play this in Des Moines IA. with the Major and Major plus teams all starting in the same field of 12 to 16 teams.
The teams with 0 & 2 records in double elimination will then move down to a brand new double elimination tournament which will result in a championship in the Major division while the Major plus plays itself out resulting in its own championship team as well.
We also get 2 seeding games in advance of the double elimination events.
I see this has the saviour of the major plus program.
I also see it has a way for major teams to see how they stack up and if they can compete by adding a player or 2.
No harm to the major teams if they lose as they got to play 2 extra games with no penalty.
I would like to feedback on this subject as i would like to go to USSSA, NSA and ASA with it as a means of increasing participation in there worlds events for next year.
The AAA and AA divisions are just fine the way they are and i am only looking to help build and preserve the top 2 divisions and to have a bigger better event as well.
All feedback glady accepted.
Thanks

Discussion: Formal Protest of all 50 major plus snowbirds

PattyMac
I would accept any rules they make regarding rosters as long as they are the same for all, even open regions and that way there would never be an issue to begin with.
States and bordering states is fair enopugh as well to encourage neww growth and more teams.
The 1 exemption player alone can replace the whole snowbird rule and clean the whole thing up once and for all.
Then we can show up and just play ball like we did this past weekend with no whining about rules that we really wish did not even exist to begin with.
IMO
Thanks

Thanks for the update.
1 last question on potential snowbirds and i will then drop this issue.
Now seeing how your world is less then 2 months away, would you allow any applicants for snowbird to apply and be accepted before your event in az. Is that still possible or is there a cutoff date for the year for that.
Thanks
