Jan. 11 Kyphogt Men's 55 28 posts | This is my first go around breaking in new bats and have recently purchased a new one piece black Ultra II as well as a Reebok Melee end load. I live in the greater Boston area so the swings will be indoors. What balls are best (.44/375)? Is there a certain ball brand that is better than the other? Also, with these bats when they are broke in..will there be a noticeable difference in the pop or will there be a visual on the bats I should look for? Any advice or help would be appreciated. |
Jan. 11 Perl 212 posts | Kyphogt Two good balls are the Trump Stote and Baden Fire ball. Both are .44/375. Hit good balls, no heavy/old balls that have been wet. You will definitely notice when the bats start opening up. You probably won't notice any visual change in the Ultra however, you may notice some spider webbing on the Reebok. When they break in use only in game situations. Depending on how hard you hit I'd say normal break in period is around 40-50 swings. You have chose two very good bats, have fun. |

They are lighter than ASA and maybe utip balls, causing less damage to your bats. The 52/300 ball might also be better for your bats. |
Jan. 11 Perl 212 posts | Bruce I hope you're fully recovered and ready to play. Look forward to seeing you and Lynn soon. Good point on the Fire Ball. it is a great tournament ball though, especially in hot/humid weather. Bruce, I thought ISA used the same ball as SSUSA. If not what ball do they use and how does it compare to the Stote. We are playing in the ISA Winter Nationals in March and thougt we'd be hitting the Stote. |
Jan. 11 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I'm not sure about the weight of ISA and SSUSA balls. maybe Tatooball will tell us. I am ready to play, just don't know how "fast" I'll be. ha ha! |
