Seriously Rock N Reno
My thanks to SSUSA, Dave Dowell, and to the Reno Tourist Board for such a great weekend of softball. The venue was great and the weather even better.

We were especially blessed to be able to share a Oyster Fest with the Old Dawgs Friday nite. To bad the the oysters wound up in Nashville, but we made due with BYOM, bring your own meat, and some excellent elk stew provided by Vern Fowler.

This is what softball is all about friends off the field, competitors on it. The final score in the championship game was not indicative of how close every game in the tournament was. Walk offs were the norm, not the exception. The Old Dawgs were a little flat after a hard fought victory over Chainlink and we brought our gloves to the game not just our bats, always a good combination.

For me personally, I was so humbled, as I and my teammates were approached by many this weekend, commenting on the verse on our jerseys. Philippians 4.13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.

Dave and his staff did a great job of trying to keep games on schedule. We played good teams with good guys. The Royals, AAA 60's, put us in the loser bracket. They are a very good team and a class act. We lost again on Sunday to our friends from Renton Softball. We have played with and against the Renton boys for years. It's always fun to sit around after the game with those guys and have a beer or two or three ! We want to win as much as anyone there but the experience of being with friends is what makes Senior Softball so special. It beats a Honey do list any day and we got away from the rain for a few days.
