I am confused re: the rating system.!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just noticed that the Bostonians and Windsor Chiefs who finished 1st and 2nd at the Ft. Meyers Winter Nationals at the 70 Major level last year are back this year as AAAs. How does that work out?

garyheifer, Well, it is possible that they both had a very poor rest of the year. Also, at the tournament that you mentioned for these 2 teams, Bostonians had a negative 22 run differential after 5 games or -4.4 run differential per game. And, the Windsor Chiefs had a plus 2 run differential after 5 games, which equates to a positive .4 runs per game. On top of that, they were the only 2 teams in their division. There could be other reasons, that we are not aware of.

Although Bostonian is rated AAA now, Bostonian did win a TOC berth and will be playing in that tournament as 70 Major.

Gary ... In the interest of a bit more factual disclosure ... As Andy mentioned, yes, those two teams were #1-2 in 70-Major at last year's Winter Nationals, in a huge TWO-TEAM Best 2 of 3 bracket ... We suspected going in that they were both very likely to finish in the top two! ... Bostonian won it in the "If" game despite being -2 in aggregate run differential for the three games ...

Bostonian was re-rated on 06/13/17 to AAA based on our mid-season performance review ... Windsor was re-rated to AAA on 08/30/17 to be consistent with SPA's rating for them ... Neither team filed an appeal for a rating change nor played in this year's LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships ...

This thread may well be further support for the theory that "..If teams would spend, say, only 10% as much time worrying about their own team as they do other teams, they would probably have a better ball club.."
