| May 17, 2018 NJHokie84 4 posts | Weather policy The SSUSA weather policy is outrageous. Even if the home office in Sacramento is 2500 miles away, there is no reason why reasonable officials on site at tournaments cannot evaluate conditions AND use any of a number of forecasting services to realize that a tournament should be definitively postponed or cancelled. Players are travelling great distances and incurring expenses to get to and stay at tournament venues only to sit around and ultimately be told there will be no games played. Case in point, Loudon, VA this weekend. 100% chance of ("1 inch or more"!) rain forecast for Friday after being wet all week. More rain forecast for Saturday. This is absurd. |

Everyone wants to play ball, however if the local directors can not decide with 100% certainty that the weather is going to cooperate and the field conditions will improve then a decision should be made. Players have taken time off from work not to mention the other travel expenses associated with this tournament. I doubt the SSUSA office will reimburse for those travel expenses if the tournament does not happen once players arrive. Stop being concerned about having to refund the entry fee all the time and do what is in the best interest of the players. Shorting games really is not the best course of action in my opinion. |

| May 18, 2018 r4pitch 92 posts | i think the 65-70s went to 40min or 5inning games on wed.Then all games were cancelled on thursday..Without a dime refund..Then the 40s-60s were told come on down we will get something in this rain storm..But if you said no we are not coming to watch it rain NO REFUND of your fee ....Very sad.. |
| May 19, 2018 NJHokie84 4 posts | Cookie, you are alas, spot on. It is about the money. Not certain how much it would have cost the SSUSA to further delay or ultimately cancel this tournament. Whatever the cost, they should have cancelled this one if they truly cared about their dues paying cardholders. Played two 5-inning games on Friday on fields that were arguably unplayable and not safe at all. Shame. |
| May 20, 2018 AllTournyPit 18 posts | The thing that really sucks in that the home office in California won't give out the local tournament Directors phone numbers so you can contact them in advance. The local directors knew the forecast! Does SSUSA get kick backs from hotels and restaurants? If not they should! There were a lot of guys who paid for 2-3nights of hotels and spent alot of money on food! But they were forced to by SSUSA or lose their entrance fee! That's the real shame of it! I love to play as much as anyone, but I'm glad I stayed home! |
