I've got a man problem
I wouldn't think of playing the infield without a cup but I get a terrible chaffing problem 'down there'. Any ideas on a comfortable jock/cup combination?

Jetboy:

Some compression/sliding pants (McDavid) have a pocket to insert a cup on the outside and use a cup with a padded edge. I use a thimble and some rubber cement.

My cup doesn't irritate me at all. Maybe that's because I leave it at home in my dresser!
Seriously, two years ago I was determined to use one but I never felt "comfortable".

Wearing a cup is a really good idea.. At our age things dont grow back. Seems odd that Gary 19 didnt have an opinion on this one. Terry Ohio Silverados.

As the father of a four year old son and a one year old daughter, getting hit in the nuts might not be a bad idea.

Gary 19 I think May 14th is the starting date. The guys play as often as they can. I will be with the older guys in the mornings this year! Good luck Terry Ohio Silverados

Jetboy All kidding aside, with the problem you have, Jusy wear compression shorts with your jock over the outside. Works well. Terry Ohio Silverados

Don't blame you for wanting to wear a cup...I do as well when I play the infield.
Bike makes several models that may work for you.
They have 2 styles of compression shorts with cup pockets and 3 styles of sliding shorts with cup pockets.
Their new Proflex Max cup is very comfortable.
Also, as someone else mentioned, a little baby powder doesn't hurt either.

I walk a little bow leged with you!! I have tried everything and have the same problem. I ended up just putting it in place in my compression shorts when I take the field and take it out in the dug out when we come in to bat for hitting and pitch running.

I had practice tonight and tried one of ideas suggested here. I did the compression shorts with the traditional jock and cup over that. I didn't have any problem with the chaffing, the cup didn't feel real secure though. I kept having to pull it down to have 'coverage'.

Jetboy,
Why don't you think about playing the outfield? There are really nice people out there. We have great conversations, the temperature is usually a lot cooler than it is in the infield, and we don't have to think because the infielders always tell us where to play. The best part is that if something is hit really hard, we have plenty of time to get out of the way. Seriously, you don't need a cup in the outfield. I do wear a supporter with the compartment for a cup, but I use it to store snacks for the open innings.

DMAC, you forgot another advantage of playing the outfiled, your socks don't get nearly as dirty as when playing the infield!

I did a little more field reserch at practice last night. I tried the compression shorts with the cup pocket. No chaffing but the cup never seems like it's in the right place so I'm constantly adjusting it.

I think I found the solution in tonight's double header opening game of the season. I started with a compression short, put on my cup and jock and then put another pair of compression shorts over the top of that. No chaffing and the cup finally felt secure. One little problem, with all these layers on I felt like a menu item from Taco Bell. Get your 4 layer Sausage stuffed burrito at my next game.
