ACC Tournament
This weekend was my first ACC tournament, I had heard nothing but good things about the tournament and Raleigh. Raleigh was great!!! But the tournament itself left me a little to be desired. One we played 55 Major and Major plus games on a little league fields. I understand that there was something that prevented a previous complex from being utilized, but the fact that we played games on fields that were 270 down the line and 285 in CF, to compound our sponsor probably bought 2 to 3 dozen balls because you couldn't retrieve balls on one field is totally unacceptable to me. I am also curious as to the rating system being utilized to place teams in the correct class. I know I watched a few Major teams with 5 or 6 Major Plus players that I have played against previously and they are still allowed to play Major. I enjoy anytime that I get to play this great game, but if these fields were the only fields available in Raleigh maybe the tournament should be held at a different venue. Just my opinion.

Dem2 ... Thank you for participating ... Your facility observations are a fair representation of the circumstances ... Historically, the Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh has been our venue of choice for the Eastern National's (10 year run) ... It's a marvelous nine-field complex that is in the top tier of those we use nationally ... It was closed for what was supposed to be a one-year renovation project after the 2017 Season ... Sometime in 2018, the contractor advised the City that they would not be able to complete the contract, and Raleigh had to start over, after we had been told we would be back at Walnut Creek and after the 2019 tournament schedule had been published ...

The people we work with in Raleigh are top-notch, and it's unfortunate the contractor issues occurred outside of the control of either Raleigh or SSUSA ... The fields used this past week were the only ones not previously booked, and the Parrish Womble facility was not available at all until after 5:30 PM on Saturday, and then for only three potential rounds of games ... We're happy we were able to have the tournament and more so that you were there ... We're confident we will be back in the Walnut Creek facility in 2020 ... Good luck the rest of the way this Season ...
