Once again very disappointed in the condition of the fields in Reno - specifically San Refael. The grass was 6" deep and needed to have been mowed at least 7 days before tourney. The fields were this way at the tournament in 2022 as well. Reno knows months ahead of the tourney dates. it is SSUSA job to make certain the fields are playable. Some rain showers the day before tourney is not an acceptable excuse. The fields likely had not be mowed in at least 7-10 days prior to event.

Randy ... You played just two games at the Reno Sports Complex (on Wednesday) ... All of your team's other games were played at Golden Eagle (on Tuesday) ... How were those fields, and did they meet with your standards? ... Rancho San Rafael is a solid "6" or "7" on the 10-scale, but on that same scale, Golden Eagle is a "12" or "13" ... I scheduled every team in your age group (and younger) to play at least two of three days at Golden Eagle, but those teams have to do their part by earning their way back to that venue on Championship Day ... Everyone who played Thursday played at Golden Eagle ... Almost all of the people who chose to comment directly to us mentioned that Reno field conditions had improved over recent years ... That was our opinion, too ...

The infield dirt portions of the fields at Centennial Park at Carson City can use some improvements. The dirt portions around the bases were almost like running in sand at the beach. One of our players hyperextended his knee running around 2nd base.

From my experience, Golden Eagle has the finest softball fields on the western side of the Rockies. I don't think I have ever played a better complex. Don't know much about east of the Rockies. I did play at the USSSA Spacecoast complex once. That is the finest complex I have ever seen. I've heard that the fields at Bell Park in Phoenix are spectacular. I haven't had the opportunity to play there yet.
