Indianapolis Tournament vs SPA National?
I know from talking with many of you that the two senior national tournaments, SSWC and SPA, have caused some team situations based on the closeness in dates to include cost and time off. I talked to a coach the other day that just decided to go to neither rather than put up with any more controversy. I know that we are definitely going to SSWC. My question is that Tim (Midwest) has had a slot scheduled for seniors to warm up for the SSWC nationals the same weekend as the SPA (9/11) all year. Is there anyone planning on going to Indy that weekend? Last year he had six teams from Indiana and Ohio, and we played a round robin. I will probably stay here if that event happens. Good luck to everyone in your respective tournaments. Indy FOG is in Portage, Michigan the weekend after this one. I am hoping from some of the messages on there that we may meet up with one of my favorite rivals, Blue Chips. If not I wish them luck in Arlington Heights, Des Moines, or wherever they end up.

Nancy, we are interested in coming over for that event. Can you send me so info on that, and can we be guaranteed not to have a 12 hour break in between games like what happened back in May. Also, is this going to be a One day event. Thanks Danny

Danny, I have not even talked with Tim about how many, if any, bites that he has had. Since I am just the umpire lady, if you have specific questions for him, I would call tomorrow night after leagues start at 5:30 (6:30 Dayton time), and he can answer those. The park office number is 317-879-2088. The administrative office number during the day is 317-875-8833, but they would not be able to answer questions that specific. If you get bored over the weekend, the last stop of Bat Wars is at the park, and all of the 2005 models should be there. This is also the USSSA state weekend. Unfortunately the women's cancelled out because of the NSA and BASA women's tournaments, but the guys will be playing. I hope to see you somewhere soon.

legends 11: These Round Robin tournaments suck. Teams are heading home when they don't have a chance after saturday play especially with long drives and late sunday game times. Plus the tournament directors are lumping all classes together. Pool play on Sat. and double elim. on sunday works best.

I talked with Tim, and he has signed up six teams for sure with about the same number of about to commits. The teams are 50s and 55s. I agree with Corky on qualifiers, but this is meant to be a round robin type warm-up just to play and enjoy. We played in it last year and liked playing teams that were stronger than us that we will probably never play in a bracketed tournament, and I think that it helped us before going to the Worlds. Unfortunately it looks like I will be in Texas, but I will make sure Tim has what he needs for this. He is working today, but I would recommend calling him after 6:00 Indy time with specific questions at 317-879-2088. The office can answer general questions Monday - Friday at 317-875-8833 and accept entries. You will have to let me know how it goes. Good luck to all.
