Shelbyville Tournament
While it was almost impossible to get from where I live to Clarksville (Louisville qualifier) yesterday because of all of the major roads closed due to flooding, we did make it in time to watch a few games. I had a few coaches ask about the Shelbyville tournament because the rumor of the day was that it was cancelled due to the flooding. Dwain also got a bunch of calls on the same subject. The Shelbyville SPA qualifier is still alive and well, and this was probably the best year for it to move from Columbus since they are hard hit by the 100 year flood. I believe that he has 42 teams at last count.

Glad to hear that because Bo got a call from the SPA offices that relaxed the rule to allow us to play in 1 qualifier instead of 2 to be eligible for Dalton.
BTW Nancy did ya get a chance to look at the AAA version of Riverside Paving. LOL Hope they don't try that in Shelbyville.

Corky, Dwain said that Ridge told him that he was relaxing his new rule on attending at least 2 qualifiers this year, but I figure this is just one more reason to go to Phoenix. I have not spoken with Ridge on this, but I was surprised how many coaches were not aware of it that I have spoken with. There are some other interesting changes from a coach's perspective. I did see the team that you were talking about win their last game. The brackets were down, but I thought that they were playing a Major game. Travelodge won their bracket. I know that the road Bo lives on was pretty clear of water; so I hope his house fared well. We were hoping to see your team down there, but I guess it was not to be.

Hey Nancy,Corky or Rabbit I need the address on the complex in Sheldyville so I can do a Mapquest. Also the only rooms I can find in town are at Lees Inn,any idea on this Motel if its bad we may have to stay in Columbus about 25 miles away. Thanks for any help John

John, you can always call me. The address says 1021 E. Morris Avenue along Old Rushville Road on the website http://www.shelbyparks.com. However since it has not yet been updated to show the two new diamonds and new roadwork and improvements, I would run the directions, but I know that it is actually easier to get there from the 44 exit now, but I do not know the name of the new road off of 44 although it is fairly obvious since it is so new and beautiful. I have never stayed at a hotel in Shelbyville, but you might call the parks department for recommendations because there has to be places closer than Columbus, and you do not want to stay there now because of the floods. There is a new Comfort Inn in Shelbyville, and I believe a Knights Inn if you want to save a few bucks.

Ouch, I know that Rushville has a Holiday Inn Express. Rushville and Greenfield are both about 20 miles away, but I suspect Rushville is cheaper. Greensburg is also about as far except further out 74 from you. There should be something in eastern Indianapolis. I guess coachie should be glad that I do not know the hotels around here. ;-) If you find something in Indy and are not sure of the neighborhood, let me know, and I can tell you about it.

Corky, Thanks for the compliment, but we are just about a whole different team from last year. We had 4 or 5 guys go to Riverside, they are in the same league as us, so we see them all the time. They have a nice squad!!! Not sure if they are a true AAA team or not, but that is not for me to decide! See ya in Shelbyville!
