ASA added some bats to banned list
ASA posted a new list today, I believe there were 8 additional banned bats.

Here locally, the umps can't tell one crush from another overall. That bat (the Original) is one banned as are the Geezer and red Combat.

So if you play their game, beware once again.

This is the real problem with ASA. Not that they have a narrow list of approved bats, real players don't need rocket launchers to hit a large bal moving slowly, but that they ban bats mid-season after guys have ridiculous amounts of money already spent on them.

They have bats listed (banned) that do not hit as well as some that are legal. Once again it's about money. They are paid large amounts of it to "certify" compliance. Sometimes for a given amount of time only. Then get banned.

Perhaps they're ( the company that does it) bat speed indicator needs adjusting. lol

Your last sentence is correct to a point, but it is both a sellers and buyers market there.

Oh well, we know it happens every year or so;

So who are the "real players" you refer to? Please list age group, division, type they play, ( rec ball, local league, local tourney ball, travel ball, etc) but you can leave out names unless you care to add that as well, thanks.

They haven't added any. If you look at the site it says last updated 03/31/2008. You must be comparing it to an old list.

taits, real players are like beautiful women. Hard to define, but you know one when you see one. :)

Fred;
Try: http://www.asasoftball.com/about/build_batlist_one_page.asp

My page cuts off so I can't get all new ones... New approved list was posted today and this was supposed to be done at the same time.

dirty,
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder...So I guess that applies here too .
I don't think so.

I am assuming a knowledgeable beholder. Stats are meaningless, most anyone can hit .700 in a bad enough league. You know a good player when you see one, or people who know the game can.

Tait: Mine cuts off also (one row). These are all bats there were never approved for ASA anyway so why excitement.
IMO I would consider adding to the banned list, bats there were once approved and now are banned.
It a bat was never approved then no big deal

Fred;
'Twas going by what I was told about the 8 bats, I did not know which they were but knew thay would have been already banned.
I figure ASA is too lazy to compile a list that includes all to date, it would take a hour to download even with a T1 line. lol So they leave the walking through all the different pags to us for the grandfathered and previous ones.

No big deal for me but some are lazy to do research on their own, and it is good to help along the way if you can. Besides I rarely play ASA any more, maybe twice a year. No continuity or abiding by rules even when brought up.

F-bird, I like that. What year bird? 68?

As many as asa has banned it would be easier to look at the approved list. I should'nt say anything I dont guess I hate asa!!

That is what I do. I go by the approved list which is always current. If it is not on the approved list it is not legal. If a bat is approved for ASA it is usually on this list even before it is released to the public.

The banned list is only updated once in a while so is not always current as of that day.

Understand that and the approved list is much shorter
