In as much as they force a 3 day playing weekend when it could likely be done in 2 days, but not always, why not change days.
Tournaments are currently scheduled for mid week Tues -Thurs, & Fri-Sun, as it is now.
Not that this will happen overnight, if ever, but with the higher room cost being Fri & Sat nights, why not move the playing dates to Sat through Mon.
We could get one night (Sun) cheaper as well as many filghts should be easier to make and cost less if on Mon.

It is the Old Head and Bed routine. It will never change. They make there money some from that. Some complexes will give you a discount on the fields if you book x alot of rooms for the tournament that you are putting on.
It would make sense to schedule real games instead of meaningless ones that make you stay longer. My opinion!!

True, they do get more perks that way, but if there were a meeting of the minds here with any real concern about players coming more or continuing to come, I'd think the negotiations would work out, especially in these times.
It's not only the complexes the hotels\casinos have a large steak in this also. Not to forget the city itself. You get a large tourney in and the single dollar spent turns to at least 7 by the end of the run. Usually all is regenerated within that city.
It should also work for us since we are the ones spending it, so allowing us some saving here, makes common sense.
I think the longer stay might happen as well, if not just more often entering the event.

Here in FHC the teams that put on the monthly tournaments need help from the complexes so that they can make money. The head and bed works but we play 2 days only with 4 games. Some of the national tournaments will give you a extra game to keep you there for longer.Taits you are right once you are there you will spend and sometimes you receive little for the support of that organization. Credit card companies love us!!
