Just a question. How can you pickup with another team having played with the Silverados all year? According to the rules a team that has already qualified can only pickup players from the next higher age classification. This is one of the biggest problems I see in the World tournaments. Teams pickup good players and add them to their rosters just for the world tournament.

Discussion: Just wondering-speculative of course!!

This happens all the time and will continue to happen until the associations start classifying players and use the computer to keep track of players and teams. All teams should have their rosters published online so everyone will know what players are on every teams roster. Then the players can find cheaters better than the associations because we see them at every tournament.

Discussion: Major and Major Plus

The associations are the big problem. They encourage teams to play down by having in most cases the same awards for AA as Major plus. They let tournamnet directors have AA and AAA only tournaments and they let teams that are moved up to move back down or break up and reform as new teams.
Why don't we restrict bats with each division. Let Major plus swing the Ultra II, major swing composite bats, AAA swing metal bats and AA swing wooden bats.

Discussion: ULTRA II WHY?

We played in St Louis in the ISA world tournament and the ULTRA II was legal. We played 50 major which had 5 teams Travelodge, Kittrells, Cajuns, Goodman Racing, and MetroStar. There were three 50+ teams Ploog, Pine Knob, and Randy Smith. In the games I played against Ploog and Pine Knob there were only on home run per game and none in any of the games against major teams. The other games I watched I did not see more than one or two home runs per game. My question is why were there so few home runs with some of the best teams in the country swinging the best bat allowed. One reason is the dog balls used. Why should we be required to use such a fragile bat just to be able to compete. As I have always said the UII is bad for the game. It is not healthy for everyone to use the same bat and have no competition. Do you think other bat companies will continue to support senior softball if no one is using their equipment. Will Miken sponsor every tournament? Tournament directors have the players right where they want them. They can dictate how a tournament is going to be played no matter what bat is being used. This is just the start if one director uses a bad ball word will get around because bad balls mean quicker games. Any time Bruce Meade playes five games and only hits one home run that just doesn't happen very often.

Discussion: Any word on USSSA world or St. Louis

Hey Rabbit just wanted to wish you luck this weekend in Plano. Wish we could play there instead of St Louis. We got killed. We had to play Ploog and Pine Knob in the round robin and the rest of the major teams were very good. We didn't know the UII was going to be legal or we would not have gone. They never advertised it was going to be legal and it is not legal in regular ISA. I guess teams cried too much. The balls were terrible. There were only two home runs hit against us in five games. The UII is ruining th game. The tournament directors are going to continue to use socks for balls to compensate. This was our last tournament in the 50 group we are splitting and will have a 50 and 55 hopefully. By the way the Travelodge team beat Pine Knob and Randy Smith in pool play batting 14 players each game.

Good luck on getting players to give up the UII. There are a large group of guys who couldn't hit a lick without the UII and will cry the blues if they can't swing it.

Discussion: Pensacola Fall Tournament

Red Eye we are not doing very well. We played in one tournament in June and not swinging the UII and being bumped to major along with 10 players 54 or 55 we cannot compete. We are going to St Louis this weekend for the ISA World but don't expect much. As far as the new TPS bats the NEXUS we haven't swung it but they can't get it ASA approved and they have durability problems. They haven't given any of their partial sponsered teams nothing this year. Softball is not their main concern so it wouldn't surprise me to see them give up on the slow pitch softball bats. We are looking forward to 55 where we hope to compete a little better but until then we will take our medicine and hope we get hot. Thanks for asking.

Let's look at this from Mikens point of view. The only people using the UII are the seniors so they have to justify a production run. One way to make sure the bats continue to sell is to make sure they break quicker so seniors will buy another. It used to be you had to break in a UII now they are hot right out of the box. Since no one test these bats they can make them as ht and thin as possible. It is crazy to have to spend $200 a pop a couple of times or more a season just to be able to compete.

Discussion: Team ratings?

I was told that anyone on a team that won a world and got moved up has to play in the upper division. If you win a world you should have to move up and the associations should enforce the rule. That's always been the problem iwhen the summit make a rule and the associations don't enforce the rules. Enjoy your world championship from last year and take your medicine thia year and quit crying.

I agree it's bad for the game of softball when 90% of the players use the same bat.

Discussion: AAA and AA only tournaments

Someone answer this for me. If the association heads want more teams to play major and major plus why do they allow so many AAA and AA only tournaments. I don\'t see any major or major plus tournaments. I live in Louisville and the three closest SPA tournaments to our area are AAA and AA only. Quit allowing lazy tournament directors dictate what division gets to play let the number of teams decide that.

I like the idea of the extra six inches to the box in front. Since the plate is a strike the box should be lengthen a foot.

Discussion: SPA approves Ultra II

It is not good for softball when 90% of the players use the same bat in tournaments. Other bat companies will not make a new bat that is illegal in most associations. This will make the U-II the only bat you can use to be able to compete. I don't like spending $300 for a bat I know will break after 200 swings for the average player. I guess there are more players willing to spend the big bucks to compete rather than hard work. The U-II is a lazy mans way of hitting.

Discussion: Ultra II Beyond 2005

Guys get over the Ultra II It is not good for the game when you have to use the same bat to compete and especially whebn that bat cost $300 and will break in a heart beat. I have seen this bar ruin many a ball player by making them thnik they are power hitters. Everyon that uses the U II should have to stand on the mound and take a few balls hit up the middle at them. Remember Miken wants you to break as many bats as possible so you will buy more. Bats should last longer than 4 or 5 hundred swings.
