I'd play for sure.

Einstein please explain: I do not understand this statement. "The movement to kill senior bats is political and about money".

Not throwing stones here: I thought that SBs was all about money. The manufacturers are loving it: "No warranty". If we kill the SBs, the players would "Save" money. I know guys that have already spent $1500 for bats this season alone, not counting last year.

I positively cannot afford SBs. I have 2 that I have had since 07'; stock, nothing done to them. Hate to have to buy another. Of course, I do not play league ball.

Why I think Senior Bats will stay!!!

I did not vote for SBs; I would like a Player Poll to see if the majority want SBs; but that is "MY" opinion.

Why I do not like SBs.
1. No Warranty (if you play a lot of softball, you could & probably will spend $1000+ a year.) 30-40 cuts for $200 is a bad investment!!!
a. All Senior Bat Manufacturers do not want (in my opinion) SBs to be illegal; they are making a killing. In the past a player might spend $200 (w/warranty) on one bat per year; Now they spend 4-5 times that amount.
2. Everyone becomes a HR hitter.
3. Minimal Defense.

Your Gentlemanly opinion: Pros or Cons

Any of you guys have someone special on your team that makes the tournaments better?

Going to give some "High Fives" to 2 great people on our team. Joey (team mate) & Sherree: a married combo that makes our time better. They bring food & drinks(others chip in); but these 2 do much more than their share & they grill & whatever; I might say that they are good cooks.

Always make the time after or between games special.

Here ya go Joey & Sherree: "ATTA A BOY, ATTA A GIRL"

MadDog: I came up with a saying for our team "Band of Brothers"; we use this many times in prayer before & after the game, including the opposing team.

Get the guy off to the side, put your arm around his shoulder & just ask; "hey man is that a stock bat?"

Going to add your name to the honor list?? There's more than "5" honor men. Copy the names & add your name; your integrity is more valuable than a hot bat. Join & state that from this day forward you will NEVER use an altered/illegal bat!!!!

Well: a very significant increase from 06'. There's a saying that you need "Organized Effort" to produce a desired effect. So,GaCMan, MadDog, & Dave; here's to a great start.

More will be added.

Discussion: Senior Summit

For those of you that have attended in the past; I have a few questions.

1. How many players attend? Are there a variety of age groups?
2. Are new ideas submitted by the players for possible new rules for the next season or does the SS tell you what is going to be?
3. Are old rules brought up for possible change?
4. Are odd/old rules explained as to why they were placed in order in the first place?
5. How many SSB assoc. actually attend?

Thanks in advance

Discussion: Todays game?

I rolled one bat in the presence of others; never used it in a game; never used altered bats; never will. Have bought & traded bats with other softball players, but they had to give me an eeeee or a written letter that it had not been altered.

The best way to partially stop altered bats is for players to "REFUSE" to have the cheater on their team. I will not knowingly play with a cheater. We will butt heads; he goes or I go; I do not care if it is at a National!!

The saying that: "If we go back to the other type bats guys will cheat more". Guys will cheat with SBats. When guys pay over $700 bucks on Ebay for the Original Grey Miken; logic dictates that they are not buying it for BP!!!

Cheaters would try to cheat & do alterations with T-4000's & missile launchers if they were allowed.

Players should not "Condone" cheaters on their team; its our game & we chould clean it up.

Discussion: What Do You Think

Pitcher55:" ssusa is listening and will make a change for the better".

Maybe I am missing something; why can't "ALL" registered players be "Polled" & SSUSA receive ideas on what SSBP's want; then compile the questions together & allow "ALL" registered players to vote?

Do it over the winter months!! You vote via computer w/your SSUSA ID & you have a certain amount of days to respond; don't vote, then you can't comnplain. I do not like the SB's bat I swing them because that is what is used, but that is my vote; but that is just a small piece of the puzzle, I am 1/10000th (I think we have about that many members).

BTW: I never was polled for any of the present rules that are in place today!!!

The final results dictate what the "majority wants", then we will not have this constant feud on the board. I must say you guys are highly imaginative & intellectual in your verbiage; HaHa now!!!

I have played SSB since 99 every year & many have played more than that; we "ALL" pay to play & love to play, so should let our ideas be formulated into the game.

I dare say that 85+% still work & cannot take a few days to go to the SSB Summit; any days I get off, I do something with the family or work on my farm.

Discussion: When did it Change?

Use to be if you picked up one Major + player you moved up to Major +. When you won a National you automatically moved up; now I notice that a team can win a National, then break down their team to X amount (the number I am not sure of) of players & stay @ the present class; when did this happen & why?

Tater50

PS I think it was 04 when I had JAH Masters that I had to have the "same" roster for "ALL" associations; when did this rule change?

Discussion: What Do You Think

Screens (I am no pitcher, so I have NO say)

Extra players (if you mean batting more than 11...yes)

Bigger Plates: NO, & NO Matt or plate for strike; you play 30 years w/o the stuff, why change when you become a Senior? It is not a safety issue like dbl first or dbl home plate; let the pitcher show his stuff; you got an ump back there!!! Why have an Ump behind the plate if the plate & matt are strikes, the score keeper can call the balls & strikes, put the Ump in the Infield.

Masks: your face; wear what you want.

Middle: Like Perly; I do not know of "ANY" senior players that would intentionally hit at the pitcher. I hit one @ Lawrenceville, Ga that missed the pitcher's head about 2' to the right of his head on the pitching side.... I about passed out. NO matter how great a hitter you are, you cannot control every swing or you'd bat a 1.000.

Bat/Ball: played since 99'; used the metal bats & good balls; had plenty of dbl plays; no RPInning & had a great time. Beat a lot of teams & got beat. Do not remember anyone getting seriously injured.
As far as cheaters!!!!! If rocket launchers were legal, they's figure a way to doctor that!!! A cheater is a cheater is a cheater & if you knowing play w/one & don't call him out, shame on you!!!

Curious: you guys that play league; do you play in the day or at night? If at night, how do you cope? Special glasses?

I have a hard time at night; when I played league, first game had some light but the others were dark or near dark & I never could get any glasses to take the fuzziness out.

Discussion: Old South Result

50 Div: Columbus 55's were 3rd & Dixie 4th.

One Major problem was the oval type cage. At first I loved it; seems the concept is to keep the balls from projecting into the crowds.

One foul ball was chipped up into the air adjacent to the vertical fence that attaches to the oval fence; I run over to catch it looking up for the ball & barely missed (by millimeters) catching the oval bar with my head. I would have needed a CR at my next at bat..........OH, I ALWAYS NEED A CR!!!!!

Cage was a little crowded with ump, catcher & batter; needed about 4 more feet.

I agree that the one ump did a good job considering they had to keep score, keep up with CRs & etc.

Tater50

BTW: DT put on a show; I complimented them about our thrashing..........every guy hit hard & was consistent.

Have not purchased a SSB Bat in about 5 years; seems my torque does not break them like other guys. Anyway; we played an exceptionally great DT Express team this past weekend & most were using the Miken Maxload. I thought they were no longer available.

Anyone have a 30 oz for sale? Price? Must be stock, no rolling or squeezing? Or know where to find one?

Discussion: Player Poll

ShaneV: "The challenge is to listen to all and assess the trends." A Constant yearly Player Poll in the organizations will accomplish this.

MadDog: "i personally don't care if they do or don't change the ball." MD is thinking of safety; these & others ideas can be pursued via PP.

Stick8: "Why have run limits every inning?" I am totally w/you on this; I get beat 8-7 or 30-12, I still got beat. Run rule or time limit or combo.

BTW: where did this 5 RPI start in the first place. I played SSB since 99 w/o this rule & we got beat, we walked out & gave the other team a hand shake & vowed to give them a better game next round.

Personally; I have a lot of thoughts, but that is Tater50's input, but I am one of thousands; everything cannot be as "I" want it.

Everyone pulling in opposing directions only causes confusion & fragments SSB & many get discouraed & direct their attentions to something else. "Organized Effort" accomplishes the better goal. A pleased majority will keep contentment & SSB players coming back tourney after tourney.

The heartbeat can be felt be a "Yearly PP".
