well right now you have to be at least what is it 50' to 56'.what I mean is you can pitch from 50' if you feel comfortable but if not you can pitch from 65' if you can mantain the correct arc. Like most ptichers anyway cover second once they pitch anyway. That way you would'nt have to back step as much.I believe I could pitch form say 60' and still maintain arc and strikes. And if you can't pitch from farther back they have the option to wear whatever they want. This past weekend we were in a young guy tourney and ended up having to play on a baseball field and it had the raised mound. So they used a screen.Once you pitched and start to backup to get set you foind yourselve going up hill and maybe off balance thats when you get hurt.I had to pitch with the screen there and imo only it's not for me it bothered me a lot.

I still say let the pitcher pitch from whatever distance he wants...or either wear protective gear. I mean if you add another infielder thats still not going to stop the pitcher from getting knocked off the mound. And after he's been hit the damage has been done even if you have 10 infielders.I can only answer for me but I like the game the way it is hot bats and all I would just like the option to pitch from where I want. That way I would pitch and not have to backup, just get set! I played htis past weekend where they used a screen and that thing will get someone hurt it gives you a false sence of security and you fine yourselve with your guard down.

hitting the ball out the park is part of the game just like anything else though.I dont think your ever going to have it to where somebody's not going to complain. As far as hitting hrs. when my team dont have any to hit I go backside or 5,6 hole. It's big field out there so once the hrs. are gone learn to hit the open field..or as everyone try's to tell the pitcher if you can't hit anything but hrs. find another game to play.

And if you was to go with a floating rubber and you have pitcher's complaining maybe they do need to look for another position.I have watched some guys pitch and the biggest problem I've seen is there still backing up once the ball is hit so it catch's then off balance that's his own fault not the batter or ball.

well like some of you I'm going to throw my 2 cents in...either do one of 2 things, let the pitcher pitch from whatever distance he feels good with as lond as he's from the rubber back not just 56' but wherever he wants.I guess make it a floating rubber.I pitch also and can oitch from whatever distance I need to when I play senior me being a youngster I play outfield. But when I come back home and play with my young team I pitch and cover second after the pitch.Or make wearing protection mandatory.leave the balls and bats alone let us have some fun!!!

Audie,
I sure wish they would do that,I only live 2hours from Jacksonville.I know I enjoyed playing down there even though it was an asa tourney at RingHaver.I thought it was going to be FHC rules so I did'nt even carry my asa bats. But once I got there I knew I had messed up.And I have read up on the way they place the teams and that makes it competitive for everyone and thats what were all looking for anyway. And yes your right if they was to open it up for Ga.& al. it would only make more teams more revenue.I personaly don't have a team but just looking to play. But you guys have many FHC teams that stay in fl. mostly and if they would open it up it would give those teams more players to choose from also.

I sure wish they would let us Ga players play. I have relatives that live down in west palm beach so I called about it.And was told I could play only in that area and not in Jacksonville which is where I was wanting to play. And I could only play in that area when I was actually living there even though I would have a address there along with mine in Ga.

the one I have is a hockey type helmet it gives plenty of coverage and it's fairly light also.It would take some getting use to but very doable I think. The knee guards I have are little league baseball type.so there short but fit tight enough they would'nt hender running much.

I would sure wear the equipment if it was mandatory...but if they ever put a screen on the infield my playing days are over.I think the equipment thing would be a good thing.I have in fact bought all the equip. for that purpose but dont have the nerve to wear it....lol

I think most will agree that if a pitcher gets a batter on a full count and on his next pitch he leave's it hanging outside one of 2 things may happen it's either a good backside hot or it coming right back up the middle.I have'nt played senior ball but one yr. and loved everytime I got the chance to play but me being young I played the outfield. But I love pitching, when I play with the young guys I pitch because they have young guys for the outfield.I guess what I'm trying to say is in my opinion I think it's respect more than anything else that stops so much hitting up middle in senior ball or I would like to think so.Any batter can come up with a full count and ypu know with the next pitch your going to swing and if your thinking pull and it's outside pitchers beware!!
