Bradford White beat Roc City 55's in the 1st game of the finals - 23-20 - To win the 60's AAA.

This was a special tourny for BW. We won't forget the play of any of the teams we competed against. In particular the class and thoughtfulness of Athletic Outlet/Travato to our coach Bobby Lerch. Bobby and Stephanie didn't attend this one - But I can assure you they were there in spirit.

It is more than a game - That's for sure.

Regards.............

Bradford White Softball

There may be others as good - but IMO there is no better SS in the 60 AAA division than Bob Lerch of Stahl Post 60's. You have to see him to believe him.

I like the two pitchers on Stahl Post. Chuck "Da Judge" Rand and Dougie "Westward Ho" Westcott.

Gotta luv those two!!

Discussion: What did you do in your last at bat?

My last at bat was a "screamin mimi" line drive - in the dark - slicing - hooking - dropping - that somehow the LCF for FMSI caught!! Eliminated my team from Ft Myers. Still thinking about that!!

Hey Birdie - All

Complaining about the ranking of other teams in your division has to be taken with a "grain of salt". Shit - I do it all the time!!

Keep in mind that Stahl's has never won against NV Force - A major team.

Stahl's did beat the 65 Guru Major Plus team in Manassas but lost in the finals to the Syracuse Merchants - A major team.

Move up the Jersey Masters if you have to move somebody up!! :) (I have lots of pals on the Metro's - so that is tongue in cheek).

Stahl's is a very good AAA team. If we were moved to the Major level - We would be below average.

Every tourny Stahl's wins is done the old fashioned way - singles and doubles - good - really good defense. We do not "over-power" anyone - We are not a team of HR mashers.

This rather long rant is mostly for the benefit of SSUSA mgmnt - Who I believe sometime checks in on here.

Come what may - I love this game and I love my team!! Stahl Post Rocks!!

LOL for all the "supporters" of Stahl Post that want to see us move up to Majors!!

I can remember each and every beating NV Force has given us (we've never won a game against them)and we are still wondering how we managed to overcome the Guru 65's last year.

Give us this year to enjoy some success and look out for us next year in the majors!!

Thank you!! Both of the games could have gone either way with you guys. Winning this tourny - espcially the way we won it - is something STAHL Post will not soon forget.

Kudo's for winning the toss and passing on the "hammer"!! Takes a confident team to do that - respect that. You came out like gangbusters - had it working for six of the 1st seven innings.

Also Stahl Pose #30 - beating McCall's for the 60's AAA division.

McCall's got into the finals by coming back from a 7 run deficit in the bottom of the 7th against Hawk's Nest.

The Stahls - McCalls final was a very close affair for most of the game. Stahl's pulled away with back to back 5 run innings in the 5th and 6th.

Superb defense from Stahl's!! SS and manager Bob Lerch is a great defensive player and a great teammate!!!

Hey!! I just checked the team picture - and right there in the middle is this huge trophy!! So individually we each got a hat - and collectively the team got a trophy which we will present to our sponsor.

All I can say in my defense is that is was really, really hot. :)

Good Tourny!!

i'm with hheb on this one. no question that we all play the game for the competition and the enjoyment of being with friends, of a weekend away from the usual routine. There is a right way and a wrong way to handle tournament recognition though and an off the shelf hat doesn't do it. I would have liked to be able to present our sponsor with a plaque - which I know they would proudly display.

Anyhoooooo - I do appreciate the tourny director taking the time to search us out and personally return a team-mate's glove that was left at one of the fields on Friday. Went out of his way - that's appreciated.

Playing in SI, NY and bases are loaded - I'm in LF. A ball is smoked past me into a hedge row. I run into the hedges looking right, left, center. There it is - go to pick it up and it's a baseball!! Damn.

Look over my shoulder and 1 run has scored, 2nd on it's way. My SS is jumping up and down sayin "get the ball in - get the ball in!!".

Only one thing to do - I fire the baseball to my SS - He wheels and prepares to fire home. Then he stops - looks at the ball in his hand - turns around and gives me a wtf look.

Umpire runs out to the SS - sees the baseball and allows all runners to score.

Ump said I made a travesty of the game!!

Was introduced to slowpitch in 1970 as a result of being hired by NY Telephone. My 1st steady job after getting out of the Marines in 1969. I only went looking for a job after I walked into a Triumph showroom and tried to buy a gorgeous red convertible Triumph TR4A. When we got to the part about where do you work - And I said I didn't really - Just collecting VA checks - The salesman said go get a job and come on back!!

It was the start of a beautiful relationship. Me and softball I mean. Lost track of the salesman.

An easy way to remind yourself to use that 2 finger in the last slot is:

"Remember it's two in the pinky - not one in the stinky!!"

Hope that helps.

Hombre,

At the start of this post you mention an interest in the Combat B1 Da Bomb. I have one - first batch - 28 XEL - purchased new from Combat. I've never been able to use it due to playing ASA rules - it has maybe 200 BP AB's on it. I'm looking to sell it for $150 or trade it for a CNT FLEX.
