Discussion: RULES???

Maybe the rules can be bent it the team is short of players, this team had 15 rostered players, nobody hurt and then picked up 3 50 Major Plus players to play with their 60 Major Team. All three players were 60 and had just been knocked out of the same tournament. BTW, they didn't win the tournament, but knowing the rule is what is important. The TD having to call CA for the rule just don't make any sence, nobody was there to answer then anyway.

I don't have a SSUSA rule book but our coach should have.

Last year I personally talk to Ridge Hooks (SPA) and wanted to play with a 50 AAA team (Kayson Grill) and also a 60 Major team (Suncoast Sunrays) at differant tournaments when one ot the other team did not play.
I big NO was what I got. Didn't like it but it was a rule.

The SSUSA TD at this touyrnament had no clue what the rule was.

PLaying on 2 teams is fine to me as long as it is noty in the same tournament, but they should have to stay in the same playing level, ake: Major can't play down to AAA and Major Plus can't play down. If you play up one level then you should be stuck at that level, because you can't play down.

Gary19 said it correct. why can't it be "Rostered Players Only"

I am only 60 so I am sure I will be retired before Senior Softball falls apart. It's a shame this game we all love has turned to a MONEY GAME.

Discussion: RULES???

I have thought this over several times in my head before I typed this and come up with several ways to ask this question, But I guess the best was is just to ask right out and see what answers I get.
I know tha all of softball has to many differant associations.
I know each association has to many tournaments.
I know now to qualifie for a Word/National tournament all you have to do is pay the money.
I know you use to have to win a quailifer to play in the Worlds/Nationals.
I know that softball now is all about the money.
I know I could go on forever but my question is,

How can a 60 Major team pick up players from a 50 Major Plus team that has already been knocked out of the same tournament on the same field on the same day? Granted the players in question were 60, but knowing a 60 player playing Major Plus ball has to be a darn good player. So to play down to Major ball after playing in the same tournament is just not right. Another team (the team that won the 60 Major division) who had players hurt requested to pick up additional players for this tournament was told (who told them? I was told, was "Chris" from CA, who ever Chris is) they had to pick up from the 65 year old level. The TD had no clue, The umps had no clue. Who knows the rules? SSUSA? Who does have a clue? Or am I right?
Is it ALL ABOUT THE MONEY?
Maybe I could get an answer just for the few that wants to know.
The is JMO.

Discussion: This is for the Miken reps!!!

I have purchased over 15 U2's in 5 years.. My first U2,s (5) lasted well over 1000 (3 years) swings each, I really can't call all them hits.
Out of the last 6 I purchased not one lasted more than 300 swings. The last 2, with the bubble cap lasted less than 100 swings. I am far from a long ball hitter. Call me stupid buy you are at a disadvantage if not using the U2.
I just purchased a new model from Kellys. I have only hit it today, about 15 swings. Feels great and fair pop out of the wrapper, but I have heard thay still don't last. Hope I got a good one.

Discussion: How many batted ball injuries can you attribute to U2 bats?

Not to far off the mark here, I played SS for 10 years (Major Senior Ball) the last 5 with the U2. I play at least 250 games a year except 04 when I had Achillies surgery and only got in 125 that year. I play a LOT of senior ball.
Florida Haft Century, 50, 55 and 60 ball. Very seldom you hear that a U2 got somebody hurt. I hear more about poor field conditions, bad hops, getting hit by a thrown ball, running into each other. I am sure that some people have been hurt by the U2, but my worse injury was a bad hop at short (15 stitches under the eye) ball was hit by a 53 year old man, not hit hard, not hit with a U2 but an old blue easton, it just took a bad hop. Hope that helps.

Discussion: SENIOR NEEDS??? TIME TO GET OVER IT or THEM !!!

bashbro, never been to the Huntsman games, I hear they hold the best tournament ever. Maybe I will make it soon.

I agree with your ump, our Hooters down here in Florida would hire her with top dollar pay. How can the players keep their mind on the ball game. :)

Merry Christmas and have a great 07

Most of the umps that I have known are pertty decent, but there are a few a$$holes. I am sure all age groups have some of the A--holes doing their games.

BTW bashbro, let me know where the ex-hooters gals ump, I might like to see that game or even play with the umps. But being a senior I get to use my Ultra. :)

Discussion: Injury at the Winter Worlds

Hope all players with injurys make out OK.
I understand about lighting and bad fields.

Our SPA tournament winners bracket gamd was played on a cow paster, I thing the hogs were in the outfeild the night before and rooted all night long. While 2 other better groomed feilds set idle.

Now the SSUSA feilds at the Field on Chiquita were dragged about evrey 4 or 5th game. Don't know about the other fields but ours were great all three days.

Bob, I can still hear you way down here in Crystal River. See you soon.

Leather, I agree that 1 umpire is not enough, at least the Championship and the "if" game we had 3 umps. Guess they needed the extra money.

Over all I think it was the best tournament I had played in this year. But I only played in 25 tournaments (including FHC) and didn't get to seeall the fields west of Plano.

Discussion: WHY DO WE KEEP GOING TO THESE TOURNAMENTS?

I don't hink it's the 3 or 4 team thats a big deal to me.
It;'s playing the same teams over and over again, especially when you play them each month all year long in the local FHC tournaments.

EX::: SPA tourmanent, 2006,11 60 major teams. After seeding roune they were split into 2 divisions. ( WHY ??)
We played 1 team that was not from Florida. 1 team from Florida we played 3 times out of 6 games. Why not keel all 11 teams in the same division? This late in the year a Major team should be a Major team.

Travel days hurt many teams and I understand that.
But it will end us as you said. Teams won't go to tournaments unles they have 10 or 12 teams. Most of the time TD don't let you know how many teams until you are already there.

SSUSA had the best last month than any tournament in the past few years. It was posted as soon as the TD new anything. Had 9 in our division and only 5 Fl teams.
We got to play teams From KS, NY, PA as well at 3 FL teams. We did miss the team from MN. Best setup in the last 6 years of Senior softball.

Really tho, to answer your question.

Discussion: Updates In Ft. Meyers

I am sure glad we didn't play on the 325 foot fences, my BA would have sucked. ha ha
We (Suncoast Sunrays 60 Major) playes on the NW Cape Coral Complex. Great shape and great umpires for the whole tournament. Only 1 ump but they always show lots of husle moving from behind home plate every play.
The Sunrays finished in second, losing the "if" game to the same team Rochester Legends from NY that put us in the losers bracket.
There were some great teams in our bracket and all was well matched. We played the FIRE from KS twice and was a 1 run game both times with the winning run coming in the last inning.
Joseph Chevy (PA) and PSI from (MN) played great all weekend. Sure was fun playing such great teams from another state with GREAT SENIOR ball players.
Our bracket finished (11 teams)

Rochester Legends
Suncoast Sunrays
Human Kinetics
Haples Heat

as the top 4, sorry don't know the rest.

Great job to all the Senior players and especially to the teams extra runners that ran every inning to keep the out feild fresh as possible. Remember you guys a a very big part of any team.

Great job SSUSA

Discussion: Tampa SPA Winter Worlds Seeding games for Friday 10/27

Bruce, congrats on your teams victory.
Hope to see you again in SSUSA Ft Myers.

Boss, great job of umping and having Greco in such good shape. It was tons better than Radics. Radis was cut short in the infeild and a little rough.

Rabbit, I understand where you were coming from and I concur completely. But the TD's I though did a very good job considering the rain Friday night. Radis was always low and rain don't drain well. Greco was in great shape except for 1 outfield which was very rough. They played the winners bracket game for 60 major on it while 2 other fields were unused and tons better shape.

Over all I though it was ran better than most.
Umps were very good and directors were great.

Congrats to all the winners
Ridge, hope you feel better.

60 Major Platinum Division

Winners: Suncoast Sunrays 6 and 0
Sunrays All Tournamant:
Whiteacker
Pope
Ketchem
Phillips

Second: The Villages 5 and 3
Third: Naples Heat 5 and 3

The Villages went Head to Head 3 times in 6 games with the Sunrays, All 3 games were war. With a lot of runs scored it was a long final day of softball.
Naples had a couple guys hurt and it slowed them down
in the final few games.
Villages and Sunrays had several extra players that ran
many times to keep their players fresh. My "Hats Off" to these guys for being their and running hard all day without getting much playing time.
Both are great clubs and I am sure will meet in "Wars" thru 2007.
Sorry I am not like Rabbit and can post oll the scores of every game :)
Nice to see you again Rabbit, till 2007, "Stay Safe"

Congrats to all of the Winners of the "SPA Winner Worlds"

Hi rabbit, hope all is going well for you guys after Plano.

BTW don't pay any attention the "the coach" his team should be AA at best. Most of the guys on that team can not even bend over, they are old, real old. Can't hit worth as lick. Some can't hit there weight.

I will see you there. OH BTW I will be playing for
Suncoast Sunrays, YES the real old team. I should fit right in.
