Discussion: Congratulations SF

It just goes to show you what can be accomplished when everyone is on the same page, pulling in the same direction...anything is possible.
Winning any kind of championship is a team accomplishment...don't let anybody tell you different.
The Giants were a shining example of that.
Everybody contributed!! From the front office to the bat boy.

Ground rule triple??? Seriously? WOW!
For the most parts all umpires were good...we had one at Doc Romeo that was pretty bad...but he didn't really factor in the game.

He did something funny once... called a pitch a strike... then told the pitcher to bring it down... wait...if it's a strike, why did he have to bring it down?

Discussion: rumor has it

The big rumor going around is that MTC is pulling their sponsorship from the 50's because of the coaches childish behavior on message boards.

That's because there is no rule for it...and it goes directly to rule 9.01c...a judgement call.

When it first happened...I thought, this should be an automatic dead ball and do a re-pitch...extra balls shouldn't be on the field of play for god's sake...but the umpire didn't see it happen until after the ball was hit.
After thinking about it for a moment, I agreed with the umpires call, the extra ball didn't affect the play at all so the umpire made the correct call.
Kind of like if after the ball was hit, the umpired noticed a ball lying on the outfield grass after someone tossed in a homerun ball.

I don't think anybody whined too much about it...our Manager, who was just doing his job...he asked for better clarification from the umpire regarding his decision and the umpire explained it and we moved on...no harm no foul.

It sure does sound like someone is crying for sure...but it's not the Baron's.

For 750 to 1000 swings...I feel $170 is about right.

I have no statistical reasons or anything, just my gut feeling that $170 for 750-1000 swings seems about right to me.

For the amount of money we spend on bats...1000 total swings would be what I would like to get...REALISTICALLY though...500 is about where the cutoff point for me is.
If I can get 500 swings...cant complain too much.

If you average 20-25 at-bats per tournament plus BP and break in period...500 should get you through a season.

Discussion: Barons at NCSSA finals....

Yes Timmy...you choose your words wisely and on the surface it appears to be "Props" that you delve out. But we all know your intent is to tease and ridicule...with all the "Pickle Juice" comments and countless other post to Swing or just the Barons in general.
Do us all a favor and let it go already.

I am sorry if you have have perceived my thoughts as "Heated Words". I'm only reacting to how your words make me feel.

I will say that I will never again reply to any of your posts and I'm sorry if I offended you in any way.

Play Ball!!

At least we are out there competing and playing...not hiding and sandbagging.

Your a real piece of work Tim...child like in your posts and constant unprovoked jabs at the Barons.

Looking forward to seeing you Saturday.

Discussion: Throwing

Swing is correct...long toss is a great way to build up arm strength, no matter what position you play.

No need to over think this, just play long toss consistently and try to throw hard enough to make it a nice line drive toss.

Stepping or crow hopping as you come into your toss and follow through naturally as your body finishes off.

Discussion: Why remove teams from a Division?

Tim,

For someone who "doesn't care about the rings" or has much more important things to do in life than playing in 3 day tournaments...you sure spend a lot of time in here on this board trying to get everyone to drink your Koolaid.

Come on....enough talking, get on the field and play some ball already. Let the politics take care of themselves.

Win or lose, I respect every player I play against. I especially love playing against the better teams and your team is certainly one of those. It hasn't been the same this year not matching up against you guys...at least a couple times.

You state that "Softball as I see it is a game to played for fun"...then get out there and have some fun...I know I am.

:-)

Discussion: 5 run spot that allows 6 runs per inning to lower rated teams

Or how about...allowing the other team to get a possible 6 runs in innings 2-6 by actually scoring them.
In other words, give them the opportunity to score 6, but don't hand them anything before the inning starts.
This, I would go for.

Discussion: Reebok Melee

Used mine for the first time this weekend.
I gotta say, it's the best bat I have used.

I tried Mikens, too soft for me.

I used a Combat for the last 4 years and this bat out performs the Combats by far...we will have to wait see about the durability.

Discussion: Comparison

OP...I have been using Combat for the last 3 years now...and I have always had an end cap issue, that's about 5 bats. Glued them all back in and only one has stayed in after that.
Solid bat, but I'm sick of the end cap problems.

I don't have anything to compare for you yet, but I just ordered a couple Reebok's from Alan and I will let you know how that works out.

SFTF...seriously...nothing got in my head or screwed me up...ugh.
