I remember a long time ago...Alka Seltzer was used in the club house in the sweltering heat and humidity of summer.
Seemed to work well.

Good Stuff Alan,

As far as technique goes, I would also add that you should really bring your hands through the zone first.
A great way to get this down is to do lots of Tee Work. Hit off the tee concentrating on bringing your hands through the zone and the bat barrel will follow accordingly.
Tee work will also allow you to figure out how far off the plate you truly need to be to make contact with the sweet spot.
Watch video of Buster Posey and Derek Jeter, they both do this extremely well.

IMHO

Yup...I read the rules and they are exactly as Andy has cut and pasted in the above post.
So it is different than a standard baseball rule then.

Staff: are the rules for softball different than standard baseball rules then?

Check that last post...ANYTIME a "Base runner" is hit with a batted ball before an infielder touches it...there is an out.

ANYTIME a batter is hit with a batted ball in fair play, there is an out...regardless if he is standing on a base or not.

Did I miss something???
All this talk sounds like there will be no HR's allowed.

Actually...for Major+ you get 10 HR's...after that they will be considered outs. With the old rule, after 10 HR's...it's a walk, only one base and at the very most...1 RBI.
So the argument about "loving to hit HR's" doesn't really apply here does it.

Leon...great stuff!!! Fun to think about...(but we both know that would never happen).
You are correct though...Softball should be more about the whole game, not just the big guys hitting HR's. Let's field, throw and run, there is so much more to the game.
Let's see how many HR's get hit on the last day of a three day tourney...after big guys like me have to run around the bases all day in the August heat.

Seriously, I have no problem with the new DBO Rule. I think it will help bring the better all around teams towards the top.

Yes...I was at Sunset on the weekend of 27th-29th and came home sick as a dog. Stomach was tore up for a week.
I didn't eat anything there...just drank the water from the dugout...never again will I drink out of those water jugs.
I was at BLD this weekend and it's a little harder to drink your own water here as they don't let you bring anything in and you have to drink there stuff.
But again I have come down with an illness after this weekend.

Good one...I believe the run counts as you have described the events.
However...if the shortstop would have just stepped on third for the force out...the run would not have counted.

I can't speak for the others, but I don't play for "The Ring", I play for the great competition and playing with friends and being the best team we possibly can. Just the fact that I can still go out there and play at a decent level is good enough for me.
Like Malo says, win or lose...I always enjoy the battle.
It's not the destination, it's the journey that means so much to me.

If that means playing the same teams over and over again, then so be it.

Even in the Major division, there may be more teams, but it's usually the same faces you see at these events. And the same team you played earlier in the year, isn't always the same team next time.

IMHO

Used this Miken last night in league games...let's just say, the performance was nothing short of amazing.
Everybody is different, swings are different, strength and bat speed are different, but for me, this bat is every bit as good as any senior bat I have used...and I really like the warranty.
I will be getting more of these.

I purchased this bat from Alan last week.
Went out and hit with it this weekend and after about 100 swings...it's starting to loosen up. Have to say, it's the hardest feeling composite bat I have every broke in. Alan has been great in helping me find the right bat for me... I love it so far. The End Load feels great, I believe there is an extra 1/2 oz. for a better feel.
I think it's a good bat for big hitters, I'm tired of going through 4-6 bats a season. If this bat can perform and last, I will buy again.
Thanks again Alan...
