| May 21, 2012 Beasley | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking for a 50 Plus Major Team BJ played with the South Florida Renegades this past weekend and did a good job for us. Here's what I posted about BJ a couple minutes ago in the general forum: "As a reference, BJ hit 5 homeruns in 13 at bats this past weekend. Not a single one of them was a solo. In two of the games we played, we were trailing going into the bottom of the last inning. In both games, BJ came to the plate and kept us moving through the line-up by not making an out. In the field, BJ played a pretty solid outfield. We don't keep track of errors we commit, but I can't recall BJ making any. On a field with tall, thick grass, BJ fielded everything clean and threw the ball to the correct base keeping the forceplay intact whenever possible. Good luck BJ and we wish you the best. It was great having you with us this weekend and hopefully some of the teams up your way took notice of your abilities and will give you a shot with them. | Aug. 2, 2011 Beasley | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Major team bracketed in with AA / AAA @ Southernson - I understand your concern about stacking a team. It's not right but seems to get by more often than not. It has to be difficult when a roster is reviewed to pick out who's sandbagging. But personally, I don't see anything wrong with a Tournament Director walking over to a team or player and telling them that they're done. Pack your stuff and go home. Yes, a refund may be involved, but the few dollars that you'll lose (this tournament) will gain you a ton in integrity. I bet that once the word got around that you'd have more teams wanting to play in your next tournament. By no means am I directing that comment at any association! It just gets old seeing guys playing "E" softball and laughing because they have the other players afraid of field their balls. Or that they just want to be a hero so bad that they have to stoop to that level. I just don't get it - never have and never will. I think I'd quit playing if it ever got that bad. I read the first post but I don't know who that is. Sometimes I wish people had to use their real names on these boards so that you knew who you were talking to. Me - I'm just another butthead softball player with an opinion that probably stinks. |
